Cupra bushes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking at getting the front end polybushed, either powerflex or the cupra wishbone bushes. I have read up on them but there isn't much info on what they are actually like after fitting. There are a few people who say they squeak and are super stiff, how true is this?

Basically I'm asking for reviews on how you feel the bushes have improved your car and has it cured that fecking front end squeak and was it a worthwhile upgrade?

Thanks

round and made of rubber!!

well worth the upgrade!

i'd also consider powerflex bushes if you plan on doing it solo!

much easier to fit that oem VAG bushes

I got Cupra bushes and everything else is Powerflex, no squeaks.

ali at unit 18 did mine a few weeks back, basically as he said it would be, a little hard at first as in noticeably harder than before, however after a few hundred miles there perfect! plus the improvement on the feel of the car is superb!!

Great upgrade and due to them being like the below picture no need for pressing in

i got the Ibiza Cupra ones put in mine a month ago or so, they are much better than the standard ones. car feels much tighter in the corners and handles better. cant say i notice a harder ride to be honest, but would defo recommend putting them in if your car still has the standard ones in

I had a set fitted a week ago. The difference was noticable everything up front feels a lot tighter. No real compromise in ride quality either :)The garage where I had them fitted said they would recommended them to others who need to replace thier bushes.

Just need to locate the banging noise from the rear now :(

Ok, im convinced :-D so the new bushes deffo sort out that awful creaking noise?

I've just had a squeak start today - pretty sure the car is still on the original bushes - '04 on 75k.

if it is they will be absolutely minced! soo minced i'd go as far to say your car will be dangerous to drive!

at 60k mines were in pieces!

Er, that's what I would have thought but the car drives perfectly! It had a service by a Skoda dealer last month and they didn't make any comment (usually try to flog everything from new wipers to rear discs).

It was MOT'd by Dean of Dumfries in '07, '08 and '09 and had the following advisory in '07 and '09 (but bizarrely not '08!!): -

Both front suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement (2.4.G.3)

I got it MOT'd in July '10 and not even an advisory! Anyway, will get it done pronto (probably won't bother with the Cupra ones as read somewhere on here that Skoda have improved their bushes).

Not necessarily as mine were changed from the original ones for cupra bushes at 80k and it wasn't dangerous, yes they were a bit knackered however! :giggle:

Unit 18 fitted Cupra console bushes and powerflex upgrades which have been great, no knocking all since and the turn in is much imroved

Mine had 72k on them and still looked in a reasonable shape. Changed a few weeks ago to the cupra ones. Handles a bit better. Still a crap handling car though. More noise in cabin too.

Booked in for Monday - only just put a new pair of Rainsports on the front - don't want those eaten plus the squeak is driving me nuts!

I have just bought a VRS (that I travelled to Scotland for, as it was meant to be a good one) that has the dreaded squeak & clunk. The console bushes are disintegrating at 48k. The garage said it was genuinley dangerous & an mot fail.

I'm having the Cupra ones fitted on Friday

Don't trust the sweaties :bandit::happy: .

Car in today - he said they weren't that bad but are worn (knew that anyway) - he didn't have time to do them today so will get done tomorrow morning - said 2hrs labour and washers for the bushes (standard ones) so should come in under a ton - happy with that :) .

Thats a good price mate.

I had to have the front & rear bushes done, they were all mullered.

It's the first & last time I get taken in by 'detailed' bodywork!

Some people should spend less time & money on detailing & more on actually maintaining the car!
