Retro fitting fog lights

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am new to the Skoda world but I have just bought a 2005 Octavia Sport 2.0 PD 140 TDI. Absolutely love the car so far and I am now thinking of what extras I can add.

First off I would like to add a set of front fog lights. I did this on my last car which was a Mondeo and it was as easy as buying the fog lights, headlight switch and a small bit of loom so it was basically plug and play. Can anyone tell me what is required to add front fogs to an Octavia?

Further down the line will be cruise and parking sensors but I will take it one at a time!

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Richard

I would have thought that the sport had front fogs.

I would have thought that the sport had front fogs.

Mine does not have any and I think adding them will improve the front end look so hopefully it's not too difficult.

Welcome to Briskoda

Are you sure your Octavia is a Sport?

I too thought they came as standard with front fog lights...

Don't think the 2005 Sport's had fogs fitted.

They must not have. I only have the headlight switch for rear fogs in the car so it's not like the front fogs were removed for some reason.

Here it is just as proof.

So can anyone tell me how easy or hard it is to retrofit?

I used the search function and got a few hits, unfortuantly a lot of fog light threads rapidly turn into a debate on when or why you should or shouldn't use them.

Anyway, try this one, a couple of useful links...

That's very helpful thanks. I did a search myself but for some reason didnt find anything useful like your link.

There will be other posts out there, it's just having the patience to trawl through them all :giggle:

Sorry to drag this up again, but has anyone out there retro fitted fogs? Is there a bit of loom in the car that I can just plug into or is it much harder than that?

If it's not easy to integrate properly I might just go to an auto electrician and wire them to a new switch and put it somewhere on the dash. I would rather get them installed properly if possible though.

I have already bought and installed the fog lights themselves at this stage and if nothing else they look good fitted but I would like them to work.

By the way, I will only be using them whens it's actually foggy for those of you who hate drivers who leave them on all the time! :-)

You don't really need fogs. Unless your like the pathetic youth of today who think it looks cool to have them on with sidelights.

Thanks for the reply but I am trying to not have this turn into a thread about whether fog lights are needed or not. I would just like to know if anyone has info on fitting them.

Thanks! :-)

Howya,

Not sure where in Ireland you are, but Joe Power at TDR Performance in Coolock might be able to help ya-www.chippedire.com

At the very least you'll need a new headlight switch with front fog function, and recoding with VCDS to get them working, in addition to a connecting loom and relay/fuse.

I have actually been speaking to Joe last week about cruise fitting and I never thought to ask about the fogs. Worth asking anyway!

Thanks.
