loosing air presure on the turbo

Featured Replies

The turbo wont hold its boost, iv changed two main pipes the metal L shape one that joins to the rubber one with that stupid joint, then had it put on diagnostic's at skoda which found there was a split breather pipe, so had this replaced aswell, but this still has not cured the problem, now they are telling me that i need the throttle body replaced, but someone has mentioned that it could be the return vavle also known as dump valve could be sticking, would this be what is causing the boost to release still PLEASE HELP

When you mean loosing air pressure do you mean boost? Mine peaks at 10psi then drops to about 7psi a second or so after

Yes the DV could well be knackered. To test the DV you need to push the piston up & hold your finger over the small top pipe then let the piston go. The piston should stay up until you let your finger off the top pipe, if it drops down the seal has failed.

How do you know you're losing boost? Do you have a boost gauge or is it an error code which has falgged up?

It will be dump valve...If you need one contact me I have a standard one witch is almost new....

the worrying part is you took it to a skoda dealer and they want to fit a throttle body lol

wouldnt be taking my car anywhere near then again !!!!!!!!!!

cheers mate

this sounds like the same problem i have with my octy 1.

i had a split crank breather pipe and a split hose under the intake manifold.

i replaced these with some creation motorsport hoses.

this hasnt cured the problem but its not as bad anymore.

im planning on cleaning the throttle body, then checking the dv.

i have a mate who has a spare standard one im going to try.

i dont know what boost im running but im hoping to fit a boost gauge very soon

does your car have the 17705 fault code?
