Any VRS or 1.8T owners running a resonated exhaust?

Featured Replies

Good day to you all

I have just purchased a 2.5" Milltek resonated cat back. Already fitted is a Piper 2.5" Downpipe and decat. just wanted to know if anyone on here has fitted or experienced a resonated system as the majority I have seen all seem to be non resonated. if so does anyone have vids/sound clips? I had a piper full system on the car before and that was loud, almost too loud for me especially with a 6 month old baby in the car. So i wanted something a little bit quieter this time round and have heard good reviews about the milltek. also going to replace the exhaust hangers this week and thanks to bowders already have the part numbers for this

another question I have is that the cat back is designed to fit the oem cat with a smaller bore size. however with both my decat and cat back having a 2.5" diameter will i need to trim down the milltek slightly to ensure it doesnt hang out the back? i have already bought a coupler to mate the two together

any comments will be much appreciated as always

The Milltek is much quieter than the Piper system, I can confirm this as i have had, Miltek, Blueflame and recently fitted a Piper System 2 weeks back. Piper is very nice......

The Miltek is the quietest of the lot, i had both resonated and then fitted none resonated section and to be honest could not tell the difference. If you have had Piper then trust me the Miltek is quieter even the none resonated. Piper use a smaller rear box to those exhausts. If you are unsure just get the resonated system as performance wise marginal.

Also regarding the linkage to a decat downpipe , don't worry you should get a reducer pipe with the Miltek system, They are actually designed to be used for the std and none std downpipes as they make sports cats, so assume at some point you will upgrade to there downpipe/cat so include the pipe with the cat back system.

Hope this helps

Mark.

thanks for your advice mark. thats good news, the mrs went spare at me when i opened the taps with the piper attached for the first time! :giggle:

where did you get the piper from? not off clive?

ok so even if milltek supply the sleeve there shouldnt be any issues with overhang at the back end of the car then?

thanks again matey

Piper was brand new....not from Clive...

Should not need to cut anything as the reducer / sleeve can take up the length or into the pipe

ok mark thanks again. sorry i just tend to panic a little when fitting new stuff. ah the reason I asked is cos clive bought mine off me before he sold his vrs. the build quality on the piper is exceptional, just hope the milltek lives up to its name.

thanks again

Won't go wrong with milltek, I've been running my non res system nearly 3 years and can't fault it

Fitted perfectly to my standard cat and my sports cat and now my de-cat without any issues. As for noise the non res isn't that loud tbh, sounds good now it's coupled to a de-cat. Not intrusive and doesn't drone, my kids have never moaned either

Got the resonated Miltek on mine, sounds very similar to standard exhaustemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Ive just had a 2.5" de-cat and jetex resonated cat back exhaust system put on mine and its only a little louder than standard but it burbles alot. Im happy with it for now but shall be taking the resonater out soon for a straight through. Its just not loud enough

My Piper is by far the loudest system i have had on the car. Even so not stupidly loud. With my Blueflame sport cat/downpipe it sounds very sweet. would have been even nicer with my old decat downpipe. Will try and post sound file. It gives a very nice burble on tickover and on de throttle.

Hi I just posted about wanting a louder exhaust.

I know I'm almost 3 years behind with this post lol.

Where could I get a piper and how much would it set me back?

I currently have a twin exit pipe (make unknown) which looks great and is nearly new came with the car he said it's centre back but is only loud when the car is cold and you can hear a slight rumble with the door open if you hold it at 1500 rpm but that is it.

I want a noisy car any advice on this would be great.

Not the same story with my milltek...on my 3rd backbox under warranty now! ;-(

I'm running a full decat and a power flo 3" centre and rear, no box in centre, system is deep and loud when booted.

Rob at W8 performance a site sponsor will be able to sort you out with a Piper exhaust.

Where would I get something like that?

I see allot of milltek on eBay over £400 a go though.

I can't seem to find anything other than universal without breaking the bank but in saying that if I can get an old box from a scrappy universal would be as good in my eyes then sell the near new box on my car to someone who wants looks without noise and it basically pays for itself :)
