pipercross panel filter for vRS

@janner thats a picture of the old TSI engines , gonna quote some , since i only found accurate stuff in german

This engine is manufactured at the Škoda Auto plant in Mladá Boleslav.

hot-film air mass meter, cast alloy throttle body with electronically controlled Bosch "E-Gas" 'drive by wire' throttle butterfly valve; turbocharger with maximum pressure 1.6 bars (23.2 psi),water-cooled intercooler integrated into intake manifold

Interesting to note that the intercooler for this engine is water-cooled, and is integrated into the intake manifold

also

@4.30

as what you can see when you look through your front bumper , the water radiator is below the regular engine cooling waterradiator .

That is a video of the 1.2 TSI(105ps) which is just turbo charged and not supercharged, so you are correct the single charged 1.2TSi is watercooled, this is the same for all the single charged TSI engines including the 90kW 1.4TSI whixh also doesnt have a supercharger.

None of the 1.4TSI twincharged engine animations mention the watercooler however they do show the images i posted up of the air cooled FMIC from the VW technical bulletin. The turbo charger is water cooled though. You can see on the animation that the turbo/supercharger fed the hot air though to the FMIC (charge AIR cooler) at he front of the car before the cooled air is sent back to the inlet manifold.

To further back this up Forge have released their air cooled Twintercooler for these cars already. If they were water cooled via the alleged intake this would not be possible.

Of course i could be wrong and if i am i will humbly withdraw everything above. but so far i cant find any proof otherwise

just been out and had a look at mine. You can see the turbo discharge pipe leaves the turbo (left hand side) it then moves down to the the right hand side of the alloy intercooler. Behind the intercooler is another radiator as well as a smaller radiator above it

Yes your right mate, only the 1.2TSI and 1.4Turbo have a manifold based charge cooler.

Relatively new to induction kits. Is this a simple induction kit? It seems quite cheap to me. I've read a few guides and posts that say to get the best induction kit you can buy. Worth waiting for alternatives?

Probably worth waiting for Janner to give a response on this one, he seems to know a fair bit about all this.

The main intake tract on the 1.4TSI is secured to the engine bay and not really modifiable without extensive cost and hassle. The main restriction is the stock air box.

Forge and ITG have replacements both have proven gains of around 10hp on standard cars. These gains are often exaggerated even more on a mapped car as they require more air.

no they dont, you can see the battery in that picture

This is the ITG maxogen intake for the 1.4TSI

This is techies cupra running the standard map with forge intake. 183hp std inatke, 193hp forge intake

At he moment the forge is the cheapest, but i think it looks abit thrown together. The ITG looks better and more thoroughly designed but its more expensive. Instead they are now about to release a cheaper alternative whihc is the same filter element, but no carbon fibre so less cost.

Me personnaly i'd go for the ITG one after having experienced their last maxogen intake on my octavia and that was immense. although im having an intake dsigned for my car by another tuner for free. hes already taken measurements. whether he goes though with it, or ikeep it is a different matter. depends how it performs
