Paintwork tips.

Featured Replies

Hi all.Can anyone advise me on what to do with my red furbie vrs.Its approx eight weeks old and now has two stone chips on the front bumber and quite a few very minor scratches here there and everywhere.I have got a diamondbrite pack which i am going to apply once the weather gets better.I wash my car every week with zymol and thats it but i am really keen to start polishing the car too. What polishes etc can you guys recommend to get rid of these scratches and keep the car looking nice and shiny.

Get the Skoda paint stick for your car, colour match should be perfect and wont be expensive. The get yourself a decent wax and prewax treatment.

I myself use (drum roll please.. ;) ) Swissol, yes is expensive but lasts so long it works out not too bad, and leaves a bloody fine result. If in doubt, check my gallery.

The pre-wax is very good at "healing" swirl marks, as is the wax too BTW.

Be careful using polish as you can leave scratches (polish is abbrasive) . . . instead you should WASH and WAX frequently.

I recently bought some Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax (

Swissol wax is said to be the best stuff out there but it costs FROM

I've been using the autoglym high gloss polish for the last few washes - my car is one year old. Should I not be using the polish? I had it recommended to me by the skoda dealer???

I think most polishes are midly abbrasive, which is why I use wax. For unbiased and knowledgeable help Wax Wizard is your man.

Thanks guys.Bye the way what is a claybar and how does it work.Sorry but im a bit stoopid when it comes to cars.

Its like an eraser for paper...just made out of a clay type material (basically).

I have never needed to use this method on my cars, as I wax them straight away and the bodywork is always pristine first.

ok red cars and black cars (and other dark cars) will always pick up fine scratches , even the smallest particle when you wash will leave scratches or even travelling down the motorway will have a sandblasting effect to a certain degree .

my soloution is this 1. scratch x by meguiars for the worst scratches (on mine on the doors and tailgate where the dirty paintwork has been pushed causing scratches)

2. a good pure polish

3. the important bit , the paintwork is now bare and needs waxing, a synthetic polish will look great but ANY SCRATCHES WILL BE MAGNIFIED use a wax with a high caranuba content this will fill in minor blemishes and give you perfection , dont use a cleaner wax as this will remove the last layer, what you need is a pure wax that you can layer up.
