BT Home hub2.0

Featured Replies

I used a Belkin wireless N router which was a real pain at times - to connect throught VPN with my work laptop I had to disable automatic DHCP and "open" various ports. Even then I had connect via network cable. when I wamted to connect other devices this all had to be set up manually.

Anyway, I have ditch teh belkin and installed a BT HOOme Hub 2.0, and wireless now works seamlessly as it should!!

But - my broadband is quite slow and variable - with the belkin I could esily go to teh router page and check the connection speed. I can't find this facility with the homehub. The router manager page is at bthomehub.home nbut is pretty basic compared to teh settings that were avaiable on the belkin. - or am I missing something?

The landing page should show the Downstream and Upstream speeds along with a few other bits. Could be if you're using Firefox that you need to enable Javascript or uncheck the Block Pop-Ups Windows tab under content in preferences.

Landing page should have this in top left corner:

On the Homehub we used to have it was under advanced, then DSL somewhere. Listed the up/down stream, and various bits of noise info.

My fathers BB is 1280kbs down and 244kbs up... speedy!

I was close then :) I always found our HomeHub to be a bit. . . sketchy. Not too stable and not that fast on the whole. 1504 would have been for use - was getting less than 1mb on speedtest.net at the end of the contract.

I've got a measly 10240000 bps (10,00kbps) now with Virgin. :giggle:

I am on Sky LLU at home and I get 16158850bps (16mbps)

Ah, if only copper was that good here. Get about 4mb at best. Interesting to see people can reach the claimed speeds though, no chance of doing so here.

Still impressed with Virgin though, constantly get what we pay for, unlike BT. :dull:

Yes, the Homehub is basic, it was only intended for Domestic BT users and can't be used by other Broadband suppliers, it will only accept [email protected] or [email protected] as a log in. The 2Wire Business Hub is intended for Business accounts and is therefore more mappable.

As for seeing your synch. speed then you have to click through a few pages, try Settings-Broadband- ADSL. You'll have to enter your admin password on the way. The software on Homehubs does vary quite a lot as there are afew versions around now.

After a couple of weeks arguing with BT about their service, my connection has changed from 2mbps download to 17720 kbps... and cos i threatened to leave its costing 9.99 per month + Line rental for option 3.

Yay!
