Adjusting wiper range

Featured Replies

Just noticed that driver side (left) wiper is hitting windscreen frame on a-pilar when it gets to extreme. Anyone adjusted the movement range on their Superb? Just wondering is it a large task or quick job.

Service is due in two months, but if it quick fix then could fix it now.

Undo the nut at the bottom of the wiper arm , readjust it and re-tighten.

Just hopng that it comes of easier than in my EOS. Needed a special tool to pull the wiper arm out.

You will most likely find if it has altered itself, is that the arm is loose on the splines. Mine was ok on a fairly dry screen or quick wash but in steady rain the drivers blade used to hit the pillar, took it in to dealer who new all about it adjusted arm and retightened. Less that 5 mins and did not charge.

Same problem with my MkI and first MkII.

The tool that pulls them off is quite cheap on eBay, if you need one

Going to ebay to get a tool and then waiting for it to arrive... Nah, easier to take the car to service couple of weeks earlier. Gets the aprox. 60 000 km service done and the wiper amr fixed in the same go.

Will however try to get the wiper arm off with out special tools some time tomorrow.

You wont need a tool if it was tight it wouldnt have shifted in the first place :)

Had to do this to the demo Superb I had

Got it adjusted without special tools. There was a "oh s..." moment when had puy everything back again and wipers did not move.

Cut power again and moved the wipers to extremes and bacn to resting position, power on and nothing. Cut the power once more and on the next try wipers came back to life. What a relief!
