Sound quality difference between standard VRS stereo and Amundsen?

Featured Replies

I managed to get it vat free for 900 pounds which if you take into account how much the MDI Bluetooth prep and normal sat nav would cost it seems a good deal.

So this compares with Amundsen + MDI + GSM2 = £525 + £170 + £235 = £930 (or £775 with 20% off)?

Almost. The Kenwood was 900 after the vat was taken off.

Sorry guys but no way would I go to the lengths of shelling out £900 on a non OEM HU. Do you know what i'd do.....get your dealer to swap the Amundsen for a Swing HU, buy a decent TomTom/Garmin and sell the Amundsen on eBay.

This way you keep factory sounds, have a better nav device and probably make half decent money on the Amundsen, would in the end save you alot of money I reckon.

No not designed for the UK as it does not have the 7 digit capability the stealers said this!,if you now check the new brochure it states that it will not work in rural locations!,in the previous brochure it said nothing until you received the car and read the bumff, the new brochure has the new kenwood system that does the 7 digit, hopefully there is a amundsen+ and will do the 7 digits but this lump of brick does not, spoke to john good at customer service this morning and he was not aware of a upgrade or amundsen+ or he would have said so?

"The upgraded Amundsen+ navigation system will be available with pre-installed navigation data covering either Eastern and Central Europe or Western and Central Europe. Destinations can be entered using a postcode of up to seven digits (the coding used by several European countries). "

Knew Id seen it somewhere... (clicky)

Thank god hopefully I will get them to swap my amundsen for the amundsen+ in may when it comes out, should be an easy pull out and replace

Given that VAG have updated the RNS510 and Columbus to deal with full 7 digit searches I would be shocked if they didnt launch a firmware update for the exisiting RNS310 and Amundsen.

Does anyone know why this wasn't in place from the start? Full postcode searches seem pretty basic requirement for a nav unit.
