Nice and I assume you are going to tidy up around the screen at some point ?

BTW what software did you use on the PC ? Xp ? and what menu system are you using on the PC.

Looks good. Is the spare wheel still under the carpet?

What front speakers did you go for?

Alias is my fave!

Operating system used is windows 2000 and menu system is Media-engine which i have skined to a alias theme.

Need to tweak the windows install to remove unwanted services like printing and messenger etc this will improve hibination and restore times.

Yes i will tidyup round screen have allready tried once have a look at this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/t20829-screen-help.html

Front speakers are Focal componants that directly replaced tweeter and midrange in door. ( Installer said that it was a bitch of a job to fit as there isnt much depth in door panel).

Nice install.... have seen sextons work before, always tidy!

what you got the PC bits in?? you could cut a hole out the top cover the hole with a perpex sheet and light it up the inside with a neon... woudl look trick seeing the inside workings of the pc... i rember when i had a pc in my car

Case is a Cubid 2699R could of gone smaller but wanted to use 3 1/2" Harddrive i had lying around rather than buy a laptop sized one.

How hot does that PSU get though - if it's covered up completely it won't last too long, especially during a nice summer day, slowly melting :(

Its not a PSU its just a 12volt power regulater with a delayed on for amp to stop speaker thud. Fake floor dosnt sit right on top of it and it has built in fan so should cope ok. Case has circuitry to drop down voltages for the +/- 5 volt lines inside as its designed to run of 12volts if i take pc into house i have to use a 240v AC to 12v DC power block that comes with case.

Cool - just looked like one of the PSUs I was looking at before (made for car use, takes battery voltage and stabilises it to 12V proper, plus has delayed start/shutdown and battery protect).

Good job anyway :D

my subs occasionally thump, but not always

Veerrry nice

I've always wondered why people put PCs in their cars, but the whole idea is suddenly becomming appealing :D

If you were doing it again would you use a different screen, something that fits better? Or more to the point, is there a screen that fits better?

Xenarc do some very high quality screens. Looking on their website this evening, they talk about a new 7inch widescreen one that folds away into a DIN-sized slot :) Here you go: http://www.xenarc.com/product/700IDT.html

Main reasons - cost has come down loads, most of the equipment can be bought off-the-shelf, it's got smaller, and those 7" touch screens are now at an affordable level I suppose.

Also, disc storage, MP3/4 and navigational software is now at a lower price point so it's something you can consider.

It tends to beat off-factory spec easily and you can move it to another vehicle, which at the cost is not such a bad thing :D

True price was main factor for me as i looked at cost of a Alpine head unit with adapter lead and a ipod.

Head units which suport adapter start at
