Glad I didn't test drive it!

Apparently I'm an idiot for not test driving the vrs before I got, as a matter of fact I'm just clued up. Got my new dsg petrol vrs and oh my life is it good!!!! Much better than my mk1 vrs. I am in love with my car and very very smug. I am on my iPhone here and can't seem to upload pics straight away. I couldn't seem to add them easily when on my pc last night either, kept asking me for a URL.

Il do a search and figure it out soon. Anyway I'm one happy chappy.

I recall that feeling the day i picked up my vRS :rofl::thumbup:

ps: but i did test drive before i bought!

I bought my Mk1 vRS without a test drive, but on my neighbours advice.

8 years and 100k miles later, I bought a Mk2 vRS, without a test drive.

In fact, i dont think I even sat in a Mk2.....

I test drove one before ordering, but to be honest I'd already decided I was ordering it before I'd driven it. Only test drove a DSG petrol rather than the manual which I was buying. After test driving a Leon Sport around 5 years ago and really not liking it (despite thinking I would!), I don't think I'd buy a car without a test drive now if I'm honest.

I didn't test drive mine and hadn't even seen the interior when I ordered it. Unless you're buying something right at the bottom end of the market you're not going to get something cr*p so I wasn't too bothered and it was pretty much what I expected when I picked it up, maybe slightly better than expected.

I did test drive my last car and didn't like it that much, but still bought it anyway (it was so cheap it was rude not to). Turned out I loved the car and only sold it because I needed five doors, so it perhaps goes to show that test drives don't mean that much.

Edit - I'm talking new cars, not 2nd hand.

chuffed for you Nicky boy. i never test drove either mate and ordered. know i will love it when it comes.

get pics up when you can, if it is asking for a url, upload to an account like flckr or if you have any web hosting space and put the link into it to display the image.

enjoy mate.

Had two Fabia vRS and needed a bigger car so ordered an Octavia vRS CR FL on reviews and what I read here. First time I drove one was on the way back north to Aberdeen from Mansfield. Smiled all the way!

Already own a MKII vrs so couldn't be bothered test driving a FL one to much of trail to dealership. Just haggled for one over the phone instead ordered race blue again. Has the interior changed on the FL? Roll on the end of May.. :giggle:

I bought a TDI DSG Yeti without test driving one, though I did test drive a 1.8tsi 4x4 and a CR110tdi 2wd. (there weren't any in the country)

I had never been in or sat in an Octy vRS. Bought a 2nd hand one in a private sale from a chap in Leeds, sight unseen. Knew it was what I wanted and when the vehicle inspection was clean I hopped on a plane to go and collect it. Loved the drive home and two years later I still live it.

Main changes to the interior are the white illuminated instruments and the touch screen stereo plus a few other detail changes. Makes a difference though :)

good man im not alone with the no test drive on a new order but on top of that I had never ever driven any Octavia before only sat in passenger seat once in a m8s 1.9TDI PD 105 :D:rofl: a few weeks later im still happy

I had never test driven a cr before buying that and perhaps I wouldn't of bothered had I done so first. Having said that I had driven a pd. Didn't test drive tsi either but I knew how good that would be. Would never buy a second hand car that I hadn't driven though!

Well done Nicky Boy, picked my Candy White manual cr up last weds too, again ordered without test driving knew it wasn't going to be anywhere near my 310bhp Impreza but a real nice smooth drive and 45mpg B)

45mpg? I was lucky to see 35mpg lol

I'm very surprised at the number of people who would buy a car without a test drive, while you can certainly gather a lot of information from reviews but I've found on test drives I've found the car to be different to what I expected. For my last car I'd settled on an Octavia Estate L&K TDI but ended up with a Seat Toledo Sport TDI 150 which is obviously quite a different car not meeting many of my requirement and pretty much solely because of the test drive. When I'd taken the Toledo out the midrange turbo charged surge and stiff suspension just put a big smile on my face although I was worried I'd regret it, three and a half years I was sorry to see the car go. Some of the reviews were quite hard on the 1.9 engine due to its agricultural noise and turbo lag plus the suspension was hard but I actually liked the engine more than the current ones.

Shopping around this time I was disappointed with a couple of cars that reviewed well particularly the A3 Sportback which I didn't think much of before getting my Octavia which had been my first choice but struggled to find a suitable one. I did a 200 odd mile round trip to test drive it which there's no way I'd omit although I'm perhaps a bit fussy, I wanted to ensure like the Toledo it would be a car I'd be happy to hop in and drive a few hundred miles with.

Its all in the detail I might take a trip up to the dealer over easter to see what I've ordered. I am a fan of the more aggresive front end  and if nothings changed much apart from that well thats fine by me. Its fun to take a gamble now and again. Hope it lives up to my expectations. The deals are to good not at the moment not to place an order. Thanks for info

I had high expectations and it surpassed them in many ways!
