Drive belt flapping on mk2 Octavia

Featured Replies

Hi.

This is for my dad's car. Mark 2 Ocativa 2004 MY.

The drive belt is flapping up and down. His replaced the tension with a new one.

Same thing.

Replaced the crank pulley (has rubber around it)

No change

Changed the drive belt and still not fixed.

Everything came off looking healthy. The air con compressor turns just fine and switching air con on and off makes no difference to the flapping.

Alternator turns without a problem.

The tensionor flicks back and forth as the belt flaps.

Reving up stops the belt flapping.

Other known issues with car. Sounds like the dual mass flywheel chatters away. (sounds like a jet engines blades when the wind turns them)

Anyone else had this problem? THank you.

Sound very much like the alternator freewheel pully, what engine is in the car. Tdi are most common for this.
