My Superb arrived at dealer, just need to finish paperwork and registration. Still without car, I could only look at papers and one thing is interesting. Here in Serbia we god some new environmental tax which is calculated per weight. I have noticed that weight of my car is 1778 kg ?! I never seen in brochures that weight can exceed 1670kg or so. So I am little confused and unable to find anything about car specification, since most brochures doesn't have that model (it is new since Nov 11).

Does anyone has similar 4x4 DSG Elegance Combi so I can check that spec? I am little bit worried since our typical setup includes 2 adults, 2 kids (with cars seats almost as adults), full boot and 550l Thule on top. That would probably mean that I am close to limit and cannot tow anything? Never towed anything, but I am considering attaching boat trailer in future (nothing bigger than this: http://www.macgregor26.com/specifications/specifications.htm).

I have a 2011 Superb estate 4x4/DSG (140 bhp), and the weight given in the official papers are 1704 kg.

Maximun towbar-weight is 2000 kg (in addition to the cars weight)

Maybe they were including 75 Kg driver. Original invoice from factory is on German, but it and states Gewicht (kg) 1778. Maybe environmental agencies want to recycle me as well

I guess that 2000kg is on top of maximum allowed weight of car. I've seen bunch of books, manuals, and brochures in boot of car, so when I get it i will examine details. Thanks for helping!

I have had my superb 4x4 estate for about 2 months. It is the 103 kw diesel version. You will have absolutely no problem towing, in fact the superb was the UK Caravan Club car of the year in 2011.

One thing to be aware of if your car wasn't factory fitted with a towbar is that it is very expensive to fit the genuine towbar kit- I was quoted over $2000 New Zealand dollars, which is around 1000 Euro I think.

I never towed, and don't have any experience but more than ever I am tempted to try something with this car. That is one of reasons why I have decided for 4x4 DSG instead 170KS DSG. When I was ordering I was in a hurry so I just checked Tow Bar preparation, since I wasn't sure what kind of tow bar I might need. I hope that will ease tow bar fitting later?

Does anyone knows what is dealer three letter code for Tow Bar preparation? Or how to check is it fitted?
