They work only iff you wash your windows for a few second iff i'm correct.

Have to have a certain amount of washer fluid too - make sure that's topped up.

On mine, they don't work for the first wash or two while the pressure builds up - but work every wash after this as long as I hold the stalk in place for long enough.

many thanks for your replies,have checked fluid levels,and tried holding the wiper stalk in for quite a few seconds but doesn't seem to work..will have another try and see.thanks once again for your quick replies.

I'm sure you know this already, but just in case you don't - headlight washers will only work when the headlights are on.

just checked it again,just to be sure i'm not at fault..held wiper stalk for a count of 10 secs,no activation of washers to xenons.anybody any suggestions please?? :(

I doubt this'll work, but try doing it twice, as the first wash builds up the pressure, the 2nd fires the washers.

yeh,they could be broke tbh,and yeh tried em with headlights on,i suppose they're not too important as i never let the car get that dirty..u just kinda like the idea of being able to use em if u needed to.not planning to sell the xenons tho sorry.thanks for your help guys.

I just replaced one on my car after I broke it removing the bumper. Not much too the pyshical side of the system to break really. The water comes from the bottle to a resivior (sp?). Once that builds up pressure it in it gets forced out via the jets, which then retract under the power of springs. Would guess the fault would be in the eletronics somewhere unless you can see a leak anywhere?

yeh that's what i thought,poss electonics as there's no leak..i may take bumper off and have a good check if anything a miss b4 going any further.thanks

I have same trouble since they froze over the winter and blew the fuse.

since then they dont work and Ive had light on and held the spray even tried several times. I cant see a leak neither?

any tips?

This is almost correct, they work on the 1st and 5th operation of the stalk once the headlights are on.

From the book - however, from experience I would suggest that the held for 1 second is a trifle optomistic!

Headlight cleaning system*

The headlights are being cleaned after the windscreen washer system has been

operated for the fifth time, the low beam or main beam are switched on as well as

the windscreen wiper lever is held in the position ? page 49, fig. 42 for about 1

second.

Electrics is not my strong point I always assumed the every 5th operation was triggered by a solenoid but no doubt someone will tell me the ECU or something counts???

One thing to remember is that the fuse layout in the handbook is a mirror image of that on your car - assuming you have a right hand drive. Fuse 15 / 10 amp.
