EPC Light - VCDS Light Version

Featured Replies

The missus tonight reported EPC warning light has come on. After reading numerous threads, I've checked the brake lights - not working. No other warning lights are visible & apparently the car (2006 Fabia) is driving o.k.

The more threads I read, the more I'm confused so the question is:

There are 3 or 4 routes to take. Am I wasting my time going on ebay? You can get a diagnostic reader tool for £20, a lead that can be used with the Ross-Tech light for less than a tenner, go to a garage / find someone with a full ross-tech version.

I'm a tight/skint git so some advice would be well appreciated.

Thanks

Brake pedal switch I reckon. ;)

I've just got a cable and software off eBay.

I'm in discussion with the company about it not being fit for purpose.

Vcds lite isn't really worth doing, from what I know it won't auto scan for fault codes.

The biggest issue with evilbay cable and software is that it won't run on vista

Thanks for the speedy reply.

Blooming high tech rip-offs!

What you're telling me then is in days of old, I'd find that out the 'old' way with a test lamp etc. These days I'd be conned out of quite a bit of dosh at a garage for a diagnosis, fix, & remove code.

Therefore I need to find the switch, replace, then spend some dosh :'( on a tool to remove the code?

I think you will find the light will go out once you've replaced the switch, but have a look/search for fitting instuctions, from memory they have to be fitted in a certain way until they 'click' into place, and you only get one go.

Thanks Chris,

The problem seems to have gone away, for now anyway.

As for instructions - found this. Why on earth things have to be so complicated for the job it does is beyond me. :wonder:

Thanks for your help on this lads.
