cockpit lights gone off

Featured Replies

Strange thing happened today...

Fabis Greenline cockpit lights went off a wee while after dark, whilst lights were on!

Not happened before and it is just the interior illumination for the cockpit pod and the central stereo/aircon disply as all the warning lights seem fine. This makes it difficult to read the disply in the dark. The functins of the stereo or on, showing the radio station, etc so I am unsure if it is a seperate fuse for the backlight or something more sinister!

I cannot see any other function has failed and it "Just happened" as they say!

Anyone had this happen and if so, did you find the fault?

Thanks in advance. mrgf

Probable fuse may have gone? Easy remedy find the fuse and replace ,is it totally gone or just dim, could have hit the dimming facility. Near right knee and dimmed ?,fuse must have gone

No dimmer on the new Fabia (unless the EVEN NEWER FABIA has them)

Had a quick look at the fuses but need a bit of a better exploration as the fuse diagram seems back to front to the fusebox!!! :wonder:

Sure I have dimmer on my elegance

I can not find the dimmer mentioned in the manual nor found on mine either a knob around the dash or a function on the maxi-dot menus so if you find it please post where it is.

As to the mrgf's problem I would guess either a fuse blown or a connection fault. The problem is getting to even the dashboard connector(s) to test if 12V is at least getting that far.

Could you check and get back to me then? Many peeps have moaned about the lack of dimmer on the 07-on Fabia!

If there is one, it may have been that my student dimmed it unwittingly as he was fiddling with the controls during a driving lesson, trying to get used to using the lights, wipers, etc!

Sorry my mistake no simmer it's the headlight leveller

I have one on my Mk1 Elegance. I find it is a waste of time, providing adjustment from adequate (full) to inadequate.

There is no dimmer in my VRS. Confirmed it with the dealer when picked up. Cost cutting i believe...

There isn't a dimmer wheel but on the facelift versions the maxidot display anyway the lights dim depending on the brightness of the light in the car. If you drive at night and put the overhead light on for any reason the dials and maxidot display increase in brightness gradually turn the overhead light off and they dim back down.

Got the car down the dealers... Turns out it's the light switch. They have ordered a new one on warranty and expect it thursday so I am getting it replaced and serviced friday as the 20;000 miler is due! ;)

Well, they replaced the lightswitch under warranty, as it arrived when quoted and it did indeed do the job! The facia lights are now back to normal. Strangely, the new switch "Feels" a bit different to the older one in use but not in a bad way... Just a different "Feel" through the switch as you turn it on/off!

I got the second (20,000mile) service done which was a bit steep, at £175, parts and labour WITH a 20% discount and this didn't include washer fluid as I asked them to leave that as I do it so regularly with my students!

I am seriousely thinking of going non-main dealer for the next service! :wonder:

£175 for a second service is not a lot at all, there is nearly £100 of oil in the sump of the greenline, the 20K service is a full service unlike the 10K one which is just oil.
