Mk1 Skoda Fabia vRS O2 sensor

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

I'm having a slight problem with my 2006 Skoda Fabia vRS (80,000 miles). Unfortunately she's down on power at the moment and under acceleration there's a large amount of black smoke. I dont do too many miles but I think fuel consumption has also gone up.

Now I presume this may be down to a faulty Oxygen sensor. I may have this wrong but I'm sure it definitely has one of these sensors yes? I've just rang my local Skoda dealers parts department who told me this model does NOT have an oxygen sensor and so he couldn't get me a replacement. I am very much confused.

Obviously my next step will be to check the vehicle with a fault reader but I'm unable to do this at the moment.

If you could confirm about the O2 sensor and a possible part No. if it does exist then the info would be greatly appreciated

Jack

O2 sensor is a petrol thing. Diesels don't have them. You need to find someone local to you with vagcom/VCDS to see what sensor is throwing up a problem. :) I suspect it could be the MAF (sensor right by exit of the airbox) - you could unplug it and see if power is better, then you know it needs replacing. :)

DPF cars run O2 sensors so yes there are run on diesels but not your vRS.

I've unplugged the MAF sensor connector and been on a decent run out. This has cured the smoking problem. There's a hell of a lot less smoke coming out the back now so I think you're right and it will need replacing. Power is no better (but is slightly smoother) but I presume it wont be until a new sensor is fitted. Before I spend money on a new sensor I will get the car checked using vagcom just to make sure but it seems that's the problem

Thanks a lot

now yourve disconnected it it will come up with a maf fault so get them to see if there are any other faults in there too
