O2 Sensors

Featured Replies

How much longer do I give this .06 octavia 2.0 fsi

Car in Dealers for two weeks to fix O2 sensors. Apparently there are 5 of them two already replaced at least 100 quid plus labour plus 20% con tax plus 12 quid a day loan car. Give it another week then am afraid probably car will have to go. B)

Whats the fault?

If the dealer misreads the fault code and assumes what the "machine" says is correct you could end up throwing more money at it.

Lambda faults can be tricky, but if you know what to expect to see at the probes, and the ECU there isn't much room for error. It isn't common for more the one probe to fail, especially if they are two "upstream" or 2 "downstream" probes. More common one of each or just one throwing the whole closed loop system out the window.

There is only 4 probes on the FSi engines, two "upstream" (in front of CAT) these are broadband probes. Very accurate and rarley go wrong.

Plus the two "downstream" probes (behind CAT), these are planar probes and fail quite alot due to the conditions they work in.

If you can, ask for the "diagnostic log" and send it to me and i'll take a look.

Any questions, just ask.
