Door locks - something to think about

Featured Replies

I hardly ever use my door locks on my Octavia, yesterday I decided to put all of the windows down using the key when I found out I couldn't get the key in the drivers lock! It was full of muck and took a heck of a lot of cleaning and WD40 to get it working again. The Boot door is even worse. It looks like the small metal flap to protect the lock got stuck open in the bad weather over the winter and was full of mud and muck. I can now get the key in, again using a large amount of WD40 and cleaning it out, but it still won't turn

Just thought everyone might want to think about theirs too!

Cheers; it's something I've never thought of! Gonna check it tomorrow emoticon-0105-wink.gif

Because of this very problem, I try and exercise my locks every month or so. When mine did get really bad I used some plus-gas (well the Castrol version of) to free up the boot look (estate). It took plenty of wiggling about to get it work though. I opened the boot to try and get the fluid to stay in the lock, rather than just running away.

Tried my boot one today with no success again! I left the boot open for an hour or so yesterday with WD40 soaking in as well! :( Im going to try and remember to keep operating the drivers door every so often - maybe when I check the car over at the weekend.
