Weird locking issue

Featured Replies

Not sure if its the microswitch or just out of sync but when I lock my Octy with the key all the doors lock and unlock fine.

However in the last couple of days the drivers door with the remote has gone from hit and miss to not locking at all with the remote.

Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

water in door connector - get door trim off quick and look at electric window multiplug

give it a clean with electrical cleaner and retry

if its fixed seal it up with electrical silicone grease and amalgamating tape

if this does not cure it you are talking £££

How much is £££? I am wondering because I need to sort this issue on my car. What do dealers charge for the pleasure of replacing the control unit?

there is a second hand control unit on ebay for a reasonable price atm

from a dealer i think it is around £200 :o

make sure you have carefully checked the door loom first, and also the regulator/electric window motor

Is this the convenience module that could be up the creek?

If the headlight warning buzzer is not sounding when you leave the lights on, then it is most likely the 4th microswitch.

could well be convenience module - i'd check or replace the other things first though

Has the same problem with my car when I went to pick it up.

Garage said they would sort it, 3 days later get a call from them, it was the convenience module.

Couldnt tell you how much though as they (rightly) covered the cost.

When I got my car scanned for faults that was on the list, so maybe if you know anyone with VAG-com near by you could get it scanned and find out for sure.
