I think the changes you are planning to make will make very little difference to mpg.

I posted the effects of weight on mpg and you need to lose about 100kg for about a 2% improvement in mpg with deminishing returns.

i noticed your pro race 1.2's on ebay Trevor..

also called Demon Tweeks and Pro Race 1.2's are now only available in 15" with a 7j" width and not a 6j" and it has been that way for nearly 2yrs now apparently.... mind you it was 4yrs ago i bought a set.

Reducing unsprung weight mainly improves handling.... if i found some light enough and cheap enough alloys i might try it further down the line but i got a good five months till i get the car anyway....

yeah my steelies are 5.5j so that less drag of a thinner wheel vrs the 7j of the pro races sorta negates the 3kgs lighter they are

For more MPG I have always added MotorSilk friction reducer to the engine (after engine bedding) - it does what it says on the tin.

I have also injected ozone through the air intake and seen more MPG.

Anyone has any experiences with other brands of friction reducers?

i have had aircon on three of my cars and NEVER used it once in my life because of the affect it has on MPG.

then of course you have all the normal measures you can take such as keeping less fuel in the car, washer fluid, keeping handbook in the garage, removing the rear sets when not needed(if they clip in and out like my felcica ones do, not wearing underwear or socks etc etc....

I have had a go driving without my socks!

I saw an overall improvement of 0.00000782 mpg which saved me 3p over the 10000 miles. I spent it on chewing gum.

Trouble is my sweaty feet steamed up the car so I had to use the AC which cost me a fiver.

And of course SWMBO went through £20 of pegs for her nose.

Oh and there was the £300 valeting after my passengers projectile vomiting due to the smell.

But I did enjoy that free stick of gum, shame that when I spagged it out the car window the boys in blue were following so close.

But hey I extended the mortgage to pay for the damage and fines and how we laughed about it down in the cells. Thats where I met Big Jim of course but thats another story.
