Going for big Power

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am new to the site and recently got myself a mk1 octivia vrs, I really like it but am starting to think about going for big power, ie more than just a standard remap.

I am looking to see what us can recommend for me and what experiences us have had.

Many thanks

Kev

i hope you have plenty of money

Sell it and buy a modded one. You will save a fortune!

A good few grand. Start with the basics for handling/braking/remap and you may find thats enough. A remap is fine for me as has the power now the car shouldve had when it rolled off the factory line.

Ok I'm getting the just that it isnt really in my best interest to for BIG power, so what do you's recommend some good mods are and where to start?

Also, what is the max that the standard turbo can handle?

Kev

210-215bhp for standard turbo with remap and downpipe. Bolt on K04 about 240bhp. After that you either go hybrid k04 for a bit more or garret gt route with the rest of the kit you need for the other side of 300bhp.

Like all vags a rear anti roll bar makes a massive difference.

Generic remap = 2-300 quid

Anti roll bar (rear) = 120 quid

That should start you off.

High 200's will cost a few grand....

You can do an awful lot to the chassis first before you even remap it!

Do a search on poly bushes, rear anti roll bars, piper panel filters etc.

Big power costs BIG money, trust me on that!!

Engine Mods:

K&N/Piper panel filter

Forge 007p recirculating dump valve

Forge front mount intercooler

Turbo back system and sports cat

Samco updated hoses (no performance gain, just look good!!)

Custom remap with the above mods should see around 230bhp

Chassis mods:

Rear anti roll bar

Poly front/rear wishbone bushes

Lower Audi S3 chassis brace-top strutbrace does nothing other than look good!

Coilovers....

Hope this helps.

Steve
