vibrating behind stereo/drawer - not the normal dashboard creak

Featured Replies

I have just had cupra bushes fitted and I have to say they have improved my sdi 10 fold. I am suffering from the normal "booming noise" at around 1500rpm which I can live with, but when that happens there is an almighty vibration from the stereo/drawer area of the dash, and that is almost unbearable. Has anyone else suffered from this, and any tips on how I can try and resolve it?

Do you have an after market head unit? It may be the connectors rattling against some of the plastic parts behind it. A bit of foam wrrapped around the connectors would help if this is the case.

Second that

Thats the downside of performance upgrades....shows up the faults everywhere else...so its a constant battle!!!

Yes I'm starting to learn this! Yes I have a jvc unit, and have hard wired a sat nav to the ignition live terminal. It was ok before, but will give it a go. So are we saying that changing the bushes could have exaggerated this.vibration?

Changing the bushes will change the frequency of the vibration which may cause things to rattle which have not done so in the past :)

Correct! I've found some more annoying rattles since the cupra bush upgrade.

Now i've got sticky draught excluder tape everywhere to cushion rattle.

Where did you position the exclude tape specifically? Sounds like a great idea...

Right well i have isolated the main cuase of the vibration, and it is actually the drawer under the stereo which i bought to replace the standard tray. Looks like i will be going back to the tray. Anyone know how much the tray would be from skoda? Or any idea of part numbers?
