Bought by myself at the beginning of February as a cheap but fun run around and daily commuting tool.

Has been fantastic in it's brief stay with me and being back behind the wheel of a petrol was/is awesome.

Car was a part-ex at a Seat main dealer from a serial Ibiza owner who chopped it in against a new Cupra.

The guys clearly looks after his cars as it is in almost as good condition inside and out as the Fabia!

I think it'd sat on the forecourt at the dealers for quite some time before my purchase; when I picked it up it hadn't done more than 3000 miles since its previous service but that was 2 years beforehand!

As a safety measure I had it fully serviced with all fuilds, filters and spark plugs being changed as soon as i got it home just to be sure it was as fresh as possible.

The mechanic who did it said it was the cleanest and tidiest car of that age he'd seen for years.

He'd done a Mk3 Golf with the same engine the week before and it had fluid leaks in 3 or 4 places but under my bonnet was entirely dry

There are some known faults but its a surprisingly short list of relatively insignificant things :)

  • Rear wash wipe washes but does not wipe - It sprays water but wiper is stationery - assuming the motor is dead.
  • Remote central locking doesn't work - The central locking itself is fine as the key in door method unlocks both doors and the boot fine but pushing the button on the key has no response - dead transmitter in the key or dead receiver in the car
  • Loose heatshield - Occasionaly shifts during a quick/sloppy gear change or large amounts of lateral G (think hard acceleration off a roundabout) and vibrates against the centre section of the exhaust causing a right racket. Other times in exactly the same situation = nothing. SeatCupra.net has this as a common problem!
  • Possible rear wheel bearing on the way out or binding brake - no symptoms while driving bar a bit of a drone sometimes.
  • Missing an alloy centre cap - meh

I reckon that's about it.

The car really is fantastic and been a much better investment than ever though a 12 year old car would be.

It's never missed a beat in it's short stay with me and revs freely and sweetly.

Partaking in the Briskoda track session at Combe last weekend the car performed better than i ever expected.

I reckon it has just enough power to keep interesting and not land you in serious trouble but handles well enough to fly past Yetis :) (2 minutes into

and i make an appearance stage right!)

Driven appropriately though I've even seen 40+ mpg on a couple of journeys, and 35+ is a regularity.

It would make an ideal run around for someone or it could be stripped entirely and be a real track weapon.

Should my more motor-racy plans not happen I'd be over the moon at being able to hang on to it!

Looking for a figure around £1200

Car is located in Gloucester or Cheltenham (depending on time of day)

Any questions let me know
