How much wider was the felicia rally car?

Featured Replies

When compared to a normal felicia

track width was 30mm wider iirc? i seem to remember that they had different track control arms and longer driveshafts too to match.. i expect darren will know for sure

the availability of parts will be long gone for those now sadly

Depends what you're talking about. The Group N and Group A cars were standard width - this was most of the cars that people will have rallied. The "Kit" (which was a specific Group A version, with wider bodywork, engine running individual throttle bodies, weld-in cage, 6-speed box, etc) was wider, but there are no measurements of the track in the VK paperwork, oddly - the standard track is given, but the kit car section doesn't mention track! The bodywork is mentioned, and it's 70mm wider at the front, 62mm wider at the rear, so I guess it's fair to say it would be similar to that - I've seen kit bodywork and it is wider by not massively so. The only legal kit cars would be the original ones (as it's specified in the papers). As for getting bits, remember that they used the Group A setup, so had different hub carriers and struts, with a bolted fitment between the two to allow for camber changes, so even if you did find arms, your camber would be miles off.

Hey djaychela and Tom

can you both give me a quick hand with acromyns that have been bugging me since i joined various forums.

whats a CTR??

whats iirc??

whats IMAO

whats IMHO (i know what IMO means but can't work out IMHO)

FMIC??

i will see if i can think of any others,

If I recall correctly IIRC stands for IIRC....

IMHO - in my Humble opinion.

FMIC - front mounted inter cooler?

CTR - what's the context?

CTR could mean Civic Type R

The track the "kit car" rules spec machines would run would depend on the event. As much as the bodywork would allow on tarmac, but standard Felly on gravel.

FMIC - Yes Front-mounted intercooler. Mostly used of later cars like the Octy and Furbie turbos, which as standard have an SMIC (see if you can guess) which is replaced by an FMIC on tuned versions to reduce power loss caused by excess temperature around the intercooler.

I doubt it, there was only one set of wishbones homologated for the VK, and gravel cars want to be as wide as they can be (hence Maxi meganes, etc) just as much as cars for tar do...

I was thinking of putting spacers on my felicia to make it wider, does it actually improve handling much or is it not worth it?

The problem with spacers comes at the front - you're increasing the scrub radius aside from anything else, leading to undesirable consequences.

I was thinking spacers on the back more so than the front but if i did put them on the front it'd only be a 5mm spacer or something and maybe 10mm on the back or similar. Not sure how this would affect handling but surely it wouldnt make much difference, maybe a tad more grip at a guess...

i'm gonna have a stab at iirc

If i remember correctly???

If i remember correctly???

I think I'd done that one... :p
