9 days without my car. Can I do anything?

Featured Replies

Hi all. I've only had my 2009 Superb Elegance for a month. Last Wednesday it went in for some warranty work. The electric windows all work from drivers switch but none from their own switches. I was told that it could take a day or two to trace the fault but they've had it 9 days now.

I called them on Tuesday. They said they were struggling to find the fault. They had changed the 3 motors (yeah, that's what I thought :S) but had now run out of ideas and that Skoda technical were trying to help them.

Is there anything I can do to try to speed things along? I feel so helpless. It wouldn't be worth taking it back and trying another dealer? 9 days does seem an awfully long time to fix electric windows.

They are all controlled from the main convienience ecu, have they checked there yet. I'd be looking at where the wiring from the three door switches are connected. If they all worked from the drivers door why on earth did they change the motors.

I mentioned that imo it would be too much of a coincidence for 3 motors to all go at once. He said it had been a last resort. They said they had checked the coding. I had said that I had come across a similar problem on here and it turned out it had had a towbar had been fitted and incorrectly coded in. Mine had a towbar removed, at my request, prior to collecting the car, and I suggested checking it had been 'de-coded'. Nope, not that they said.

I'll call in tomorrow and see what's happening and mention what you said.

Thanks mannyo.

A multimeter would tell any child if a motor was getting a drive signal.

That said, the OP did say the windows operated from the Driver's door switch, so the motors were working.

Got it back this afternoon. Apparently all 3 door switches were corroded inside. They said they suspect that the windows had all been left open in the rain at some time. :S

What, all of them? Sounds a bit unlikely? It's couldn't be… dare I say it… the dreaded water ingress issue corroding the CCM? And they just don't want to do the work under warranty? Although, I'm not sure if this is a problem on the Mark II.
