what tests can you get done to a mk1 vrs to see where the oil is going?

Featured Replies

My 2001 vRS has had a heap of work done to her over the past work.

Engine re build, head re build, and turbo re build.

Its still burning oil. Im using 20w40 at the moment and that will burn 2 rows of dots on the dipstick every 800 miles.

If I use the usual, 10w30, then it will burn the length of it after 800 miles.

What I want to know is what tests I can get done to her to see whats happening.

Already had a compression test done and it passed that.

Havent noticed any oil on the ground, and the exhaust fumes are normal colored.

Going to take her into a garage to get what ever tests I can done.

Just wondering what I can get tested? Is there such a test for the oil pressure?

Whilst many cars burn far less oil, your oil usage is considered acceptable by the manufacturer.

Yep, VW say it can burn 1l in 1000 miles and be acceptable.

What did the engine, head and turbo rebuild consist of?

Can you see any sort of smoke on hard acceleration or over run,

It is considered acceptable but it is still alot

Agreed. I'd exect the smoke to be blue or white(ish) in colour. If you're getting smoke, when?
