Just had a little play (on private land ofcourse) with my mates mazda 3MPS, and there was nothing in it, very happy chappy :)

New mps or old? They are seriously quick, in a straight line. What's the estimated figures after your re map? Is yours the tsi or tfsi? Assume the former if keeping with an mps on a stage 1.

Get an exhaust and CAI on then advance to stage 2. That's when you start smiling...

You don't need an exhaust for stage 2 just an intake and bigger downpipe isn't it?

the downpipe is part of the exhaust. But you are right you dont need the full turbo back exhaust, just the downpipe with sports cat.

theyarent as quick as you think they make good power but the delivery lacks. at 5000rpm te power literally stops, so they lose alot of oomph, a remap stops this and gives huge gains at that point. Dont forget they are peaking at 260ps. with a stage 1 map you could be making 240hp at say 5000rpm and maintaining it way past 6500rpm whereas the MPS has to change up a gear at 5k to make progress so they pop out of peak power

Yeh it's the mk1 mps and very true they do lose power at about 5k...however they are still extremely respectable and the fact I kept with it made me happy. However if he was to map his then it's pretty clear he would make mine look slow. Exhaust n air intake are tempting for stage two, any reccomends on kit? Also while were at it what's the best suspension for a good drop without compromising comfort too much?

A good stage 1 remap on a tsi should give more than 240

The 3 favourites for intakes are ITG, Evoms and Forge Twintake, the first 2 will be loud. I'm not sure on the options for exhausts as I only removed my precat as I'm not stage 2.

Mine is the tfsi buddy and thanks bogwoppit! :)

ITG widely regarded as the best

  • Author

ok which ones, the direct replacement pro filters or the maxogen ones?

  • Author

interesting reads....seems the twintake is certainly highly favoured, but bhp per £ isnt brilliant @ £380!!! :| lol

The ITG induction kit not sure what it's called, not panel filter.

The ITG maxogen intake is widely regarded as the highest performing intake. The Forge twintake and evoms are very close to it though. I had the ITG on my car and its quality. loud though. the twintake is the quietest of them all.

@ jonnovRS a good stage 1 remap will not see more than 235-240hp unless there is an intake, HPFP or fitted plain and simple unless you use awesome-GTIs, AMDtechniks or superchips rolling roads as they give away free Hp in doggybags.

ive have seen probably 15+ stage 1 cars all making that. Plenty of which thought they were running more power after trying other optimistic rollers. I also had my octavia at stage 1, 2 and 2+ bluefin then stage 3, 2 then 1 shark performance so have a good base to compare.

Stage 1 (std intake) 235-240hp

Stage 1 (with induction kit) 240-250Hp

stage 2 (with standard intake and performance downpipe) 250-255hp.

stage 2 (with induction kit and full exhaust system) 260-265hp

stage 2+ 270-280hp (downppe, intake and HPFP) depending on if you have the extras such as intercooler and discharge pipes etc

FWIW my car ran over 287hp on numerous occasions @ stage 2+ on 2 of the above rollers, do i believe it, no, not at all. on JKMs rollers it made 252hp which makes sense as the bluefin stage 2+ was slower than shark performance stage 2 when side by side hence why i changed tuner
