A couple of quick pics of my VRS

Featured Replies

Finally, after 2 and a half months of ownership, my car feels 'finished'. There MAY be some more mods to come (changing the standard speaker for Hertz ones is probably going to happen in the next few weeks) but visually I am not planning any more changes to it.

There MIGHT be a set of 19" alloys for it in the summer, but doubt I will be able to afford it (maybe next year!).

Decided that I would give the car it's first proper clean and polish of my ownership today - hadn't bothered until now mainly due to the weather but also because the car was going into the local bodyshop to have the wheels painted and small repair done on the front bumper - there was a small scuff on the bumper where it was probably nudged off a kerb during it's time with the previous owner. Got it back from the bodyshop all done on Wednesday.

I'd never had a white car before so I searched on Detailing World and the Werkstat Acrylic Kit seemed to be recommended for white cars so I bought the kit from Polished Bliss oop north and set about the car today. After washing I dried the car using the proper blue waffle-weave towel and then attached any tar spots with Autosmart Tardis.

Anyway, enough waffle from me - here are the pics (taken with my Nokia N8 mobile phone outside the house as I was too knackered - and sunburnt - after spending nearly 4 hours cleaning the car to either fetch my DSLR camera or take the car a run to a more scenic location!)

Good looking car, and love the wheels :)

Very nice job mate - and gorgeous car!!!

At least you took pics of your hard work....

I spent 8 hours prepping mine for sale shortly and never took a single picture.

Mainly due to sunburn and a thirst for beer...... camera shots were abandoned!!

looks good oobster.

Clean

Hi Oob, a while back you were considering Eibach's...why did you go with Weitech's? Also sorry to be a plum but what effect do the spacer's have? Very nice car btw.

Decided to go for the Weitecs as I didn't think the eibachs would give the level of drop that I was after. Worked out more expensive, but I am happy with the result.

The spacers just move the rear wheels out further towards the wheel arch - the rear wheels on an Octavia can look a little 'lost' inside the wheelarch otherwise.

Thanks for all the comments folks!

looks great  Ive also used the equivalent Carlack on mine. Comes up shiny as a Stormtrooper :giggle:

I can't say I was all that impressed with the Werkstat Acrylic kit. The initial 'Prime' solution was fairly easy to use and didn't really leave any powder etc, but the Jett & Glos triggers, while being easy to use, didn't particularly leave the car as shiny as I would have expected.

It looks cracking in the pics, definitely a better finish than wax

The paintwork felt resonably smooth before I started though Craig, i.e. you could run a cloth over it (after it had been washed, obviously) and it felt quite smooth.

Once i'd put the Werkstat Arcylic Prime on, and buffed it off, the paint felt a bit rough. I thought that would improve with the application of the Jett, then the Glos, and it did to a certain extent but it just didn't impress me with how smooth it felt afterwards.

thats odd as mines always really smooth after the carlack sealant goes on

Odd about the Werkstat loads of people rave about it personally i'm not a fan i found it poor to apply.

I can who hearteadly recommend Zaino and for white go with Z2 and Z8

I spent a few days on mine correcting the paint and applying 4 layers of Z2 over the weekend (i'll try an grab some pics)

Looks like a decent result.

You say it's not as shiny as expected, but it is white after all ;) - I can definitely see an improvement though, and there's certainly more depth and gloss to the paint than the other shots I've seen of it, as you've gone about your other mods emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I use Acrylic Jet on my Race blue, straight on after cleaning the car and i find it easy enough to use and makes it nicely shine :smirk:

Great color coded grill with badge! Where you got one?
