Coming/Leaving Home Lights

Featured Replies

Hi people,

I’m wondering if anyone can help me in the Midlands Area (Solihull based) with my coming/leaving home lights option in VCDS for a VRS Octavia 59 plate model. It has supposedly being activated on my car but I have no look in getting it to work and have no access to any software (VCDS) or maxidot.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan :(

Do you have a light switch with the tunnel lights / auto position or one with just Headlights & Sidelights?

Just Headlights & Sidelights

Sounds like you don't have auto lights fitted. For C/H / L/H to work fully you need auto lights and an auto dimming mirror with rain / light sensor built in.

With this setup leaving home lights won't work, but coming home lights can be used in manual mode if coded properly.

To use Coming Home lights you need to leave the light switch in the headlights on position. When you turn the ignition off the headlights will go off. Pull the indicator stalk towards you once, as if you're flashing your headlights at someone. The headlights will flash and then go out again.

Remove the key from the ignition and open the drivers door, the headlights will then come on and operate as coming home lights and switch themselves off after the preset time.

I've just got myself a VCDS cable and was trying this myself with no success so came looking here for an answer and found this thread.

Hall1979 - would you please elaborate on how you managed to get them to work as I'd like to do the same on a pre-FL '07 Octavia?

Thanks in advance.

Do share as you'll make a lot of people happy.

Next challenge for you - 2nd big light.

I have mine activated with VCDS with no auto lights and they dont work..Neither does your suggestion

Please?

Managed to do it on mine by setting CHL to personilation instead of rain sensor.

I have rain/light sensor but no auto lights.

No need to leave light switch on just flash main beam before getting out.

Me too.

Been trying to get this to work for ages. If you don't have auto headlights then you need to have the CHL option ticked plus CHL set to manual NOT automatic (untick that option I think). If you set it to auto then I presume the unit is waiting for a signal from the light sensor to activate the CHLs. Which ain't gonna happen cuz there isn't one!

When set to manual, after tuning off the ignition, quickly flash your main beams. This activates the CHLs. When you open the drivers door they come on for the set time.

The LHLs won't work at all if you don't have auto lights.

I have CHL of sorts (or what I think is CHL) functioning - I just leave the lights on and lock the car. They stay on for a couple of minutes then go off automatically.

I don't have rain sensors or auto lights and will check what I did with VCDS when I get my cable back from a loan out.

LHL are a no go as far as I can tell. Pity, but not essential for me.

What you are saying is only possible on the pre-FLs.

On the fl u can only get CH/LH with auto lights.

Alternatively,

U can get the CH activated with vcds without auto lights, all you have to do is dip the headlights once after switching the car off and the headlights or fog lights (depends what u've set up) will stay on for the set up time.

Again this is only for CH and not LH
