lower wishbones

Featured Replies

Hi,

are all the lower wishbones the same on the vRS /normal octavia's?

Also, what sort of a job are they to do?

Cheers

Can I just replace the bushes or do I have to replace the entire arms?

  • Author

Cheers, will take a look!

Yeah there the same, can change bushs but no point really as you can get a set of non gen arms for price of bushs and fitting

Yeah I've seen a pair for £43 so will probably get them. Just hope they're not a pig of a job to do!

cheers!

Did mine last weekend, nice and easy, only trouble I had was getting the nut off the ball joint, ended up cutting through them

It is not a pig to do, but it is a good idea to have new bolts, nuts etc to do the job. The lower ball joint bolts are common to snap because of all the crud that gets in the threads

Cheers Bowders - these arms come with all the bits needed :)

it came with nuts for the ball joints but not the others. will I have to get them from skoda?

Yeah have two sets in my garage, nice to have spares

Too much in my garage that I have to fit, wishbones, boost gauge and catch can. Busy bank hols for me

One word of warning tho,

I remember a while back, a member did this, instead of just drilling and pressing new bushes, the purchased some none OE arms like has been suggested. Needless to say he was lucky to escape a bad crash.

One of the parts broke allowing the bush to cone loose so only one part was holding it on. There was pics and everything. Someone will know the thread, can't remember if it was mk1 or 2 tho.

Any Audi , Seat , Skoda , VW dealer as the bolts are all the same for the AUQ engine.

Rah - fitted and failed MOT :( bushes are so weak that they're worse than the ones that came off the car, and they were split!!

Think I will have to do the bottom arms on my vrs, a friend of mine pointed out movement of the wheels going back in the arch when I brake suddenly, hope it is just a weak bush, havent had time to look at them as yet, it will be a weekend job

I was just about to ask for a link to the ones you bought until I read that! lol.

Who did you buy them from? Are they goign to sort it for you?

I got them from a 100% seller on eBay. they are refunding the money for the arms and will have them collected. I may as well put poly bushes in my old arms and get new ball joints

I may have a set for sale soon that have TT rear bush and powerflex front bush fitted, as i am replacing my wishbones for a Full TT set up.
