LED bulbs

Featured Replies

I'm months away from delivery of my vRS- and so to quell some of my inpatience im spending some of my spare time perusing the net for minor technical and cosmetic improvements (vRS mats and osram nightbreaker plus bulbs already fill some of my space).

The next area of interest for me is the potential upgrading each indicator bulb and the rear stop lamps with LEDs from AutoBulbsDirect. I know there can be complications with the canbus causing fault lights and rapid blinking, but there are simple solutions in place it seems. I know there can be issues with LEDs being less bright (although they are more "vivid" imo) - although this seems to have been minimised with the use of 360 degree bulbs utilising all the reflectors.

Any opinions / experiences on the area folks? I suppose I want the car to look as crisp and modern as possible when it arrives B)

I've changed all my interior lights with LEDs as also the ones at the numberplate and headlights. I think my car's can bus is not that strict as I've had no issues yet. The site I've purchased them is DealExtreme and I like it regarding such stuff more than eBay because of the info it provides for each led.

LEDs especially when they are a nice white 6000K make the car look "crisp". Haven't tried placing LEDs in the rear lights just because I dont't think they are that bad. But never say never. :D

Happy hunting. :)

Hi there

Glad you have ordered a vrs.

Mine,a vrs estate,is being built next week so I have been looking to upgrade my lights.

According to the many posts the headlights a rather poor. I have had lots of BMW's and they have the poorest headlights I have ever come across.

Each time I have converted my lights to HIDs and the light output is astonishing, some 400% more than standard halogen lights. I know that this conversion does not comply with the regulations but I have never had any problems when passing MOTs. Make sure your headlights are correctly setup using a beam setter.

As for LEDs in the tail lights and indicators I have tried these but was never convinced that a significant improvement was obtained but you can try.

Autobulbs Direct have a range of LED bulbs, some are canbus compatible but there are always to fool the canbus system.

Just experiment and see what is suitable.

Good luck.

You won't get away with this any more.

Can only echo what LeedsVRS says. New MOT test should take care of HID kits if the MOT is done properly. If that doesn't, the traffic police will nab you for it. Although it is summer time, so headlights don't get used as much ofc.

Lots of people have gone for the Phillips Extreme bulbs which do give a noticeable increase. One of the first 'mods' I'd recommend :p

LED bulbs is an interesting one. Be interested to hear a review of them if you get it done

Interior Lights can be changed with standard LED's as the Canbus system does not extend to interior lighting

Im not interested in HIDs - I despise all the oncoming cars with poorly, and often illegally fitted HIDs which burn a hole in my retinas. New Nightbreaker plus bulbs already sitting in one of my draws ready.

I will probably take the plunge and order a pair of LED bulbs to see what happens - although it looks like one of these is needed:

anyone know what pin configuration the fabia uses? and where this item is located. From searching the forum im guessing behind the hazards buttom somewhere...

Cheers
