skoda felicia pickup 1.9d gearbox top mount

Featured Replies

i have just bought a 2000 diesel felicia pickup. It had been crashed by a friend, the only visible damage being the top mount on the end of the gearbox had snapped. so i have replaced the mount and now i am having trouble alligning it all back.

is there another mount, (like maybe on the side of the engine) that i could slacken off?. which would enable me to then mount it all straight..?

thanks for your time. any help would be splendiforous

Are you sure there's no other damage? You should be able to check the motor's alignment on the other two mounts - the under-gearbox one (to the subframe) should give you a clue about the position. I'm not au fait with the engine-end mounting on a diesel (my Mum has one but it's been ages since I've done anything to it), but you should be able to tell from the position of the rear gearbox mounting as to whether everything is where it should be, and possibly loosen that mounting off to get it all in line again and then bolt it up? How did the damage occur? Seems an odd thing to just have that mount break and nothing else suffer in an impact, though...

Thanks djchela. Yes, i agree it does seem odd that only the mount broke. i think he must of mounted the kerb at speed, causing the mount to break and the driveshaft to pop out at the grbx end. I have another pickup exactly the same as this. The under gearbox mount (at the back) appears to look like its sat in the same place as on my other one.

so when i try and jack up the box what happens is the ally mount just catches on the outside of the square housing. i litterally only need to move it about 15mm to the left. i noticed there is a kind of engine mount thing with a big cylindrical bush to the left of the cambelt. could i gain some play from this?

Sweet.

I managed to get it all squared up today. All i had to do was slacken off to bolts on the drivers side of the engine enabling me to get it all square and then tighten it all up.

The only problem i have now is that the driveshaft is actually broken at the gear box end.it has came out of the cylinder shaped shaft.

The shaft has three kind of prongs sticking out and looks like it should have three bearings, but only has one. my mate said i need to get the cylindrical bit out of the gearbox.

Any idea how i do this?
