fl vrs estate rear bumper removal

Featured Replies

Hi

Does anyone have any experience of taking off and refitting a rear bumper from a facelift vrs estate? I would rather know where all the fixings are before i start

Yea ive removed mine a few months ago fella (not faclift but same bumper on pre vRS)

Need to remove both rear lights (10mm bolts inside and then lift to release). Below them you will see a few plastic nuts to remove.

Then underneath the rear of the car will see a protective plastic trim which is joined to the bumper with size 25 torx (i think thats the size). Dont need to remove them all just the ones attached to the bumper.

Then the rear wheel arch liner has about 4 torx on each side which attach to the bumper and behind the liner is one that hold the edge of the bumper to the rear 1/4 panel. Dont need to remover the rear wheels to get access but is a little tight.

Then the worst part is that the bumper has a metal bracket attached to it that has to be removed from inside the boot and is held on by a few 10mm bolts behind the boot side compartment. To get access you need to take off a few of the anchor points (best name i can think of for them, but T shaped on the boot sides) which have a little plastic cover in the centre which you pop of with a small flat head screwdriver to reveal a 20 torx. The side boot panel has a plastic frame to it but you can bend it back and reach inside and feel the bolts to remove (can work where they are from looking half way along the top edge of the bumper on each side).

I remember i had to remove the the bottom boot plastics (around the boot catch), but cant remember for the life of me what was below them.

Job takes about an hour and not really as difficult as it seems. I you have a mate to help then one person inside and one outside will get it done in no time. Hope this helps
