Green Panels and Induction????

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

I've got a TDi Skoda Octavia fitted with a PSi Powerbox.

It's been in place a year and 40k miles without problems so now I'd like to boost the power again

Apparently inside the powerbox is a jumper which will increase the power but they warn that a sports air filter/induction kit must be fitted.

The choice of filter is obvious having read through the forums: Green Panel!!!

What about induction kit???

And who does the best prices on the panels and induction kits?

Any replies gratefully recieved

if going for an induction kit,i'd get one with a sheild over it,to stop it drawing hot air in from the engine bay.

dynotwist or hurricane are the names that come to mind with green induction kits, make sure you have a nice cold air feed to it .

badger5 sell them, bill brockbank is the man to speak to,bills known as badger5 on here and his company is in the discounts section ;)

It's an either / or. Induction kit OR panel filter. The panel filter replaces the standard paper element, an induction kit disposes with the entire factory airbox in favour of a separate filter and new induction piping.

The Dynatwist uses a Green filter element, as posted by Jason.

Only problem with Green filters seems to be that they are rather prone to rust. Mine is somewhat rusty after 20k miles or so. Best to keep an eye on it I guess.

rust ?where does this come from ?something to keep my eye on

Moisture in the intake air.

Current Dynatwists (from me) dont come with the same flexi intake pipe (as a few previous intake pipe did corrode after some use in wet conditions) - Current ones dont. They're aluminium flexi's

It's me filter that's corroding, not any intake pipe, Bill.

yours is the only one I have ever heard of. (sea side salty air?)

come across a few intake pipes, hence changed the spec to ally ones.

No, Bill - about 30 miles from you, near Swindon. It's not major - just the wires that hold the cotton together. I'll attach a pic.

Could well be my fault - I built an intake pipe drawing air from the front wheelarch - should probably have put drain holes in it at the bottom.

Here's the filter after a clean and re-oil today (its first, so it isn't down to dodgy cleaning methods).

3116.attach

wet air would'nt be good for anything filterwise, so that may need looking at.

Acid Rain? LOL

bloody hell, thats the first one i've seen do that, had one on my seat for over 12 months with no problems, has the paint come off the wire?

How much are the dynatwists from you for the Octy VRS Bill?

Haven't really been on the site long but it's great to know that people will help when asked

So, the way I see it is: I have the option of Green Panel Filter or a Full Induction kit?

Looked at Badger's website but couldn't find any metion of Induction Kit for 2002 Octy TDi 110 kit (it's probably me, blind as a mole !!)

If I simply moved the jumper on the PSi Powerbox I suspect I'd not release the full potential and would get a lot more smoke unless I fitted better breathing?

So, full induction kit is better way to go for better breathing?

I've noticed some people complaining about K&N kits killing the MAF due to oil intake??

Any thoughts or help gratefully received, and again, many thanks for the responses so far :)

Ps; roughly how much is a new induction kit for this car?

I also have an Octy TDI with a PSI box fitted. Mine is a 110 TDI (non PD) and the PSI box doesn't have jumpers - just a tiny brass screw that you adjust by trial and error.

I have been running with the box for about 20K with no problems whatsoever and significantly better performance. The last 10K have been with a green filter fitted and the box setting adjusted up slightly; again, no problems but a bit more smoke with hard acceleration.

I haven't attempted to clean the filter yet.

Yes, some of it. The fabric doesn't seem to be damaged.

Its the same kind of fitting more or less.. If you can measure the outside diameter of your MAF I can match the filter to it. Fitted LCR Dynatwist onto PD130 Ibiza previously.

Thanks Bill, i will not be wanting one for a few weeks, will you be getting more in stock? Or could you order one for me when i want one?

Stock is coming and going all the time.. so should'nt be a problem whenever you want one.

Hi Bill i spoke to yesterday regarding dynatwist or green filter, think i may go down the dynatwist route unless you do or know where i can get a Carbonio one from?

These are supposed to sound the swingers with a Forge DV according to the reports on here? I don't comute in it (octi vrs) she's a play thing!!! :D

Kind Regards

Keith.

Carbonio is available from Awesome GTi store. Noisier than a Dyantwist would be tho if thats what your after.

regards

bill
