Columbus Map question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had a Columbus fitted to my car on Saturday morning by OEM Retrofits. It seems great so far apart from a couple of niggles. I was trying to delete some stuff from the HDD and it froze on me but a quick reset sorted that out.

My main gripe is that on the OEM website they say that all RNS10's have the latest 7.1 maps installed on the HDD. But yesterday i was getting on the m/way and the navigation seem to get very confused. There is a new link road (1-2 years old) leading to the m/way that the nav didn't pick up which basically put me in no mans land. Is that because the navigation isn't very good or its an old map version hence the new link road not showing up?

I need to get this sorted out asap really. I'm sure OEM will come and sort it out, they seem really helpful, its just annoying that it may have old maps installed.

Thanks, Lee

If you have 7 digit post codes you have the latest maps if only 5 digits you have the old one

Not necessarily. If the unit is running older firmware it doesn't matter what maps you have, you'll only see 5 digits. I have v7 maps and old firmware, only get 5. Doesn't bother me.

Can you do the hidden menu trick OP? Do a search if you're not sure how, this tells you what maps/firmware etc you're running.

Yes, i'm running older firmware but the maps are supposed to be the latest v7.1. I was under the impression that you need VCDS to access the hidden menu?

I don't pretend to know the intricacies of the system but on mine you can see them without. Something like turn on with car off, press set up button for 20 seconds. Only done it a handful of times but I know it works, but not on all of them.
