Wheels

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the wheels off a favorit / falicia will fit the rapid / estelle, if not what other wheels would fit, preferably alloys, which would be available from a breakers yard. any info greatly appreciated.

What size are you after?

I would fit the same size as that fitted as standard, 165/70/13?. I would'nt mind going up to 14" wheels, my main reason is just to make it look a bit better. I bought the car with the original alloys but they will take a lot of work to strip and repaint.

Nothing on a modern scrap yard will fit. They are 4x130 beetle old type wheels will fit but you may need the centres machining best bet is some factory wheels

Thanks for the info, I might be better and spend the money and get the existing alloys refurbished.

These wheels had spend over 10 years in a damp shed and were pretty grotty when I got them...Had all five blasted at a cost of £10 each by a local guy then used Hammerite "smoothrite" to spray them after priming .Total cost was less than £80 with a few hours work which aint bad when you compared to the price of a decent set of alloys..

Yes these wheels look good, that gives me a better idea of what can be done. Thanks for that.

Those look great - especially the way you have done them. I took eight alloys to a powder coaters in Birmingham and had them done for £240 including refitting the wheels etc. If I had found a blasters locally I would have done the same as you.

Thanks for that, did have a bit of "what colour shall I do my wheels" thread on forum and got some good ideas from others but settled on this my original idea..Now thinking of changing the colour for the Rapid RiC..

KN Wheels will supply a set of brand new Minatour minilite type wheels for about £75 a pop in Skoda fitment. I bought some last year and if you tell them you are going to use the car for historic rallying they give you dicount. They are the company who supplied alloys to Skoda for Western cars back in the old communist days and even got me a set of Skoda centres that they had lying around!
