I am in lancashire Near Burnley in a town called Earby. Are there any independent vw/skoda garages in lancashire/yorkshire. I work in west yorkshire so I have plenty of scope I would imagine.

You could try Horners in Bury - not independent, but I've as yet to be charged for them for doing diagnostics. Like I say, get them to read the codes, and give a quote for fixing the problems...you don't have to take them up on it if it seems expensive... :D
