my name is Frank, from Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

For many years I've been a buyer and driver of Fiats. Don't shoot me down - I've ordered a brand-new Skoda Octavia 1.6 MPI SE Estate. I'm looking forward to collecting it next Wednesday afternoon. Woooo-hooooooooo!!

What I find disturbing with my new purchase - and it's a minor gripe - is the lack of availabilty of a brochure for that specific model. I can't even find it on the Skoda website!

Not to worry, I'm a laid-back guy. I'll see plenty of my new car next Wednesday.

I've test driven a similar Octavia saloon ( why is it called hatchback?! )and was most impressed. It is of course far better than my current Fiat Doblo 1.9 JTD, which I bought as top of the range, 7 years ago. And I'm keeping it 'guv!! It'll be my runaround 2nd car no less.

Thank you also for accepting me as a Fiat freak. MY full name is Francesco Cristofaro, although I'm born in Wales, my dad's Italian.

FRom what I've seen, the Skoda brand is excellent product, certainly superior to Fiat. One's I've had have been, Fiat 126, Fiat Strada 1.3, Fiat Punto HGT 1.8, Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD and finally Fiat Doblo 1.9 JTD which I still have.

How did I manage to purchase the Octavia Estate I've recently ordered?

It goes like this! Wife sends me to town to go shopping and buy a small chest freezer. Did all that and walked past my local Skoda dealer. I walked in, only intending to pick up a brochure! Saw a fantastic price on an Octavia - my brain went WOW! Salesman comes over, shows me the car - do I want a test drive? I says yes please!

I kindly ask on the road, can we drive the few miles to my home to show the wife? He says ok. Drive home, find my wife who is in shock! I say come with me back to town - do you want to drive? She says NO CHANCE!!! We get back to dealer, look over the car again and start talking numbers. She whispers " are you serious? " I say yes! We leave the dealer, having placed an order, with my life intact!!
