Groaning engine mounts

Featured Replies

One of the engine mounts on my Octy seems to have decided to make a groaning/creaking noise on every bump :( I'm 99% sure it's not the suspension as I've laid under the car listening whilst someone bounced and rocked the car/engine.

It seems to be coming from an engine mount.

Are these easy to replace? It seems like a massive job?

Also, are Skoda dealers good at finding creaks etc. I remember taking my Astra to Vauxhall when it had a creaking suspension bush. Took 3 visits to replace the faulty part but at least I got a complete suspension rebuild !

I doubt this is the engine mounts. I have this problem on my 1.6 ambiente and a coworker who has an identical car also has the same problem.

Both cars are 26 months old. All our dealer ever does is "retorque the suspension" and it seems to help the problem for a couple of weeks and it returns. It's most likely the front stabiliser bar or the front suspension subframe mounts that are creaking...

The guy who bought my Octy 1.6 off of me had this problem and then all the engine mounts snapped! Only cost about 200 quid to fix though from an independent specialist.
