My wife is thinking of getting a mini cooper 1.6 (facelifted one from 2007) or a fabia mk1 vrs

We've had a vrs in the past and the main problem for my wife was how it never got to temperature on her short commute.

However that got traded in for my Octavia vrs and my wife got a suzuki ignis.

Now we are in a position to trade up and she can't make up her mind.

When my wife used the vrs she used to get 40mpg on her short commute. Any one know how a petrol cooper will compare? I know the facelifted ones are supposed to be economical. I've asked on various mini forums but can't get a reply.....

Any help appreciated.
