vRS Serviceing questions?

Featured Replies

Ok my vRS is due a service in 1000 odd miles just need some advice on what bits i can buy.

I will be supplying the items and my local VAG speciallist garage will carry out the work and stamp my service book etc. I am hoping if i buy the items the labour won't be that expensive (here's hoping lol). Car will be on 84k when the service is due.

This is what i was thinking about changeing;

1) Plugs

2) Oil, fillter

3) Fuel filter

4) gearbox oil

5) brake fluid? is it worth doing this?

6) coolant flush?

7) pollen fillter?

I changed the oil pick up a couple of thousand miles ago is it worth doing it again when this service is due?

Any other items that i could do aswell?

Regards

Paul

I think youve covered all. From what I gather, the G12 coolant shouldnt need changing out, most of it gets done with the cambelt anyway.

Is the coolant a bright pinky colour?

Coolant is still pinky, just thought it might be worth changing it.

Would it be worth changing the oil pick up again?

If you only recently changed it, I wouldn't bother tbh.

Brake fluid is worth it if it hasn't been done in a while, yes.

5) brake fluid? is it worth doing this?

needs to be changed every 2 years, otherwise moisture can appear and mix with the fluid...result is weak breaking.

I have no idea when the brake fluid was changed. So ill get that done aswell.

While youre there too...well worth jacking up each corner, taking the wheel arch liner out & giving everything a good scrub (mud etc). I found the start of some small rust areas when I did mine.

I should of done that yesterday, had all the wheels off cleaned all the arches and callipers and gave the alloys a good clean.

Good idea. Last time I took mine off there was about a foot of mud behind it. :o
