Bluetooth phone activation

Featured Replies

Got my son to try to get my 1 year old Samsung bluetooth enabled phone to work with 1.2 SE YETI (Bolero) and he failed.

On screen shows as Bluetooth audio enabled but seems not to be paired.

Can anyone give me short step by step details of the procedure or is bluetooth not a working feature on Bolero's?

Not very good on the technical bits!!

I'm not too brilliant either but was able to sort it with my Samsung of the same age. I found the car bit hardest but your son seems to have sussed this.

The one thing you don't confirm is that you have told the phone itself to switch on Bluetooth in its menu settings.

I think that once the car is enabled, the phones are quite easy. I have since linked in my work Nokia with just the need to switch the phone to Bluetooth.

Hope this basic info helps - I'm sure that someone more tecky will be along very soon to assist

HFT Bluetooth is standard on Elegance only, did you specify it as a factory fit extra from the SE options list ?

(A new model, the SE Plus has just been announced with Bluetooth as standard)

No...didn't specify it as an option (was ex demo) so no bluetooth then.

Easy to retro-fit??? or get dealer to do?

I'm afraid finances won't allow your options, thanks all the same.

My son used a £30 Parrot device to link to his BMW car radio..Worked marvellously.

Can this be done without spending upward of £400?

Why is it so expensive to retro fit on the Yeti?? German engineering rather than Thailand me thinks??

The BT unit costs most of that, then you have to run the cables all around the front of the car......I did it to my previous octavia, but it did cost about £300 3 years ago and I fitted it myself, complete with soldering iron etc......Fiscon is an easier choice, or, go for the Parrot.....much cheaper.

Is it just a matter of buying the Parrot device and pairing it with the Bolero or do you need other items.

A complete novice in these matters I'm afraid!!

Visit a good aftermarket ICE dealer who deals with Parrot. You will need a special lead fitted to the back of the Bolero so that you can listen to the conversation through the car speakers. Otherwise you will end up with a horrible little speaker in the footwell somewhere.
