Where do you put a pen?

Featured Replies

I like to have a pen to hand in the car but cannot find a good place to keep one where it won't roll around. Previous car had a clip in the centre console which looked a bit naff but was very practical. Best place I could see to put one would be just above the "ash-tray" but there is no clip. Anyone come up with a good idea?

No pen clip on the inside of your glove box door? Pretty sure there's one there on mine.

I have a pen holder in my glove box lid too.

Definitely one in mine too.

I will check, I think mine has one too now I think about it . . .

I thought I'd hit rock-bottom with my thread about replacing the A-pillar ticket holder, but I think we've plumbed news depths of trivial-questions-to-ask-in-a-forum here. :)

Sad maybe but I've lined the bottom of my door bin with that anti-slip matting as I hate things sliding about & any pens go in there - glovebox is too much hassle.

This thread reminds me of a family friend who owned a Nissan dealer many moons ago.

There was this incredibly obnoxious customer whom had purchased an Almera, and had been back to the dealer several times and complained about several things which were pure RTFM issues. Anyway, the final straw came when Mr Rudeangryson came back and complained he had nowhere to keep his pen (he liked to write down registrations of people who'd "wronged" him on the road). Anyway, our buddy had a suggestion. said in a very well spoken voice, "How about up your ar*e? And for this special occasion, a dealer fit option will be free of charge!"

I keep my nice (for the car, not my lush home pen!) In the lil cubby on top the dash, and as it's rubber lined it's also vibration free and doesn't slide (especially as the pen in question has a rubber grip!)

Everyone's a winner! :rofl::thumbup:

Dash top cubby box, glovebox lid, armrest, cubby hole by your right knee on the driver's side.

Plenty of options :)

But what about someplace to keep your notebook!?

Surely if you have a pen handy you'll need something to write on?

(Is it just me that has never had a "damn I really wish I had a pen right now" moment while in the car?)

This is whats needed:

Behind your ear.

Or stick it into the vent.

Or in the loop on the sunvisor.

Sunglass holder for me

Oh temptation.... this could be longer than the clear plastic clip on the A pillar thread... clip inside glovebox but please not on display in any aftermarket pen holder dangling from vents or environs of the dashboard, it's a Skoda not a rusty Mondeo. There are all sorts of things people might wish to have to hand, I don't suppose it is practical to provide for all of them so all of mine end up in a heap in the door bin. I would like somewhere to clip my ipod when it is plugged into the aux socket in the armrest... it usually ends up on the floor covered in hair, half chewed gunge and other unidentifiable chewed remains which migrate from the dogs' cage. :D

Why not just do what SWMBO does in MY car (not her own).. She just dumps all her crap in every conceivable storage location - when those are full she uses the floor / back-seat.

Come the weekend when I think "The Octy needs a clean", I open the door and am confronted by a plethora of useless junk ranging from receipts for stuff I didn't know we owned (there's your paper solution) to a full crayola set.

I've even found a pair of pink babies shoes in there - We have a boy, not a girl FFS... and he's 6.

How the hell she gets it into the car without me seeing, I have no idea.

This got me thinking about stoopid accessories:

Yes it really is a stick on sunroof.

This is a difficult one to choose: The Carbon vinyl wrapped bonnet, the extra 4 wing mirrors or the seat cover
