Seat Bolts

Featured Replies

Gotta OEM changer to install.. got my spline driver this morning.

I've read that the bolts that hold the seats in are single use? Is this correct? Not a problem if so because gotta dealer round the corner and would rather not re-use if not supposed to be.

Haynes don't say anything about renewing the bolts??? 24Nm (18lf ft) torque setting......put a bit of blue coloured (medium strength) Loctite on the threads! B)

And disconnect the battery, then slide seat forwards and undo the rear bolts, then slide seat backwards and undo the front bolts!!

Thanks Fabdavrav.... But why do I need to disconnect the battery? I've no air bags, heaters or bum sensors? And I thought the belt pre tensioners were in the reel these days rather than the buckle?

I'd be interested in this too as sometime soon I'm going to remove my seats to give them and the carpets a proper clean.

Because there is still (from what I can figure out in Haynes) the signaling cable on the seat belt lock mech stalk and the seat weight (ocupancy) sensor!! B)

I think (I'll report back later today).. That the bum in seat / Belt is on sensor was removed in the later cars.. My elegance had it, Y plate.. but my vRS doesn't, 04 plate.. Hmmmm..

Like I said, I'll have a look and let ya know.. Think I'm gonna call the dealer about the bolts as well.. just to be safe cuz ya never know, they might be stretch bolts.

I phoned Skoda... They got the tech department on it..

Nowhere in the Skoda technical docs for removing and then replacing the seats does it stipulate that the bolts must be renewed.. And that's from Skoda's own technical doc so I guess the Haynes was right!

I guess the Haynes was right!

Haynes is right......occasionally!!! :giggle:

Ok, Passenger seat out.... No electrics to faff with what so ever.. Seats are lighter than I thought they would be as well!

However, I wish one of you lot had told me the the door side nuts aren't actually welded into the shell! Had a panic when the bolt when all limp, I thought the weld had given up.. The nuts on the outer edge must be clamped / caged in rather than the transmission tunnel side (for want of a better description) which ARE welded in and don't go limp.

Don't you like surprises??? :giggle:

Didn't know about that...will be amending my Haynes once more with red ink!!!

Dont suppose you got a quote of how much the bolts were when you spoke to the stealer did you? Ineed a couple of new ones

Nah, Sorry bud... Called Skoda direct in the end and when I didn't need to replace them I didn't bother looking it up any further.

p.s. My eBay spline drive for £2 shipped worked a treat! Yay! :D 10 points for eBay Tat!
