Combi Sunshades Available for Sensible £££'s

Featured Replies

I did state sometime ago that aftermarket UV/Sun shades were not available for the Combi (I can't find that post), well they are now.

I have just fitted them to mine, it's a 6 piece set and they look real good and the car is noticably cooler in the rear too.

Got them from Vanstyle for @£100 mark, because they are so new they did not have any instructions, but a quick email to Steve at the company and he called me back and talked me throught it. "He did warn me about the instructions when I ordered too"

BTW. I don't work for them, I'm just updating you guys that you can now get them for way less than the Skoda ones and before you ask, I don't have a picture because it's peeing down.

I'm curious how the 6 piece set works. There are obviously only 5 windows in the rear of the car, so does this mean the tailgate blind is a 2 piece fitting?

The pics on the site are obviously a generic set of blinds, so it's hard to know.

Yes, the tailgate screen is 2 pieces, so you do see a black vertical line in the rear window when looking in the mirror, but I have not found it an issue.

These look good on the web site. Could be just what I am looking for as I have ordered the combi and do not like tints. I have a dog to transport around at times and if we do get sunshine the car can get a bit hot.

Any comments and pics about the product would be appreciated.

Thanks to TankDave's findings I placed my order for a set of these sunshades earlier today (£89.99 + ~£10.50 P+P).

I still don't think they're cheap (although a lot less than some others) but if they are decent quality & fit as well as indicated then I'll be happy... as will the monkeys in the back (no dogs in our household :giggle: ) especially on the treck to Germany/Austria/Switzerland.

Cheers TankDave for the discovery/update.

Regards

Stef

Not easy to photograph these shades, but I tried.

Bought some for my car couple of months ago, keeps the car noticable cooler with the sunny weather we recently had! would highly recommend these and you also get a bag to put them in when not in use.

Better than sunset glass as can remove in the winter, better than factory blinds (have them fitted to my 1.8 TSi) as give more protection from the sun. B)

And succeeded - well done! They look pretty cool (pun intended). :)

Perfect timing, I can still knock off the sunset glass from my order and get these, I don't like tints when joining motorways, so removing these will be great

May well have to give them a bash. Ordered up the factory fitted option for the rear passenger windows, and whilst very happy with them, they don't cover the whole of the window which is a little annoying, especially for our baby. Fit looks good, but it's a shame the tailgate doesn't come as a single piece.

I'd guess the 2 part rear is to make postage and storage simple, I used to have to keep my Touran rear sunshade behind the sofa because it didn't fit behind anything else.

Puts the factory ones into the shade, eh, Ray?

sorry, Phil

Fair do's, they look pretty smart indeed. The fit looks very good, how are they held in in place (apologies if it's in the main text, only skimmed through it :o )

Looking at the photos, I thought to myself I could get some, then I realised I had sunset glass, so not really worth it. In response to some of the earlier comments though, the sunset glass isn't that dark that it makes checking over your shoulder more difficult (it's always easier to see out that it is to see in) and they're not noticeably darker at night either... keeps the car cool to.

Nice to see some quality aftermarket stuff coming out for the Estate :)

Thanks TankDave, photos lok great. Guess what my next purchase will be!! Glad I didn't go for the factory option.

Ha, Ha Stef, I've had the monkeys in the back and let me tell you dogs work out cheeper :whew:

Just waiting for a delivery date now and the party can begin.

3 Lugs fit to the frame behind the rubber strip around the window (you can just see them in the photo 1 on the top 2 half way down the window). I fitted my lugs 1 on the top and the others at the bottom of the window.

These give a lot more sun protection than factory fit (at least twice) you cannot really tell from the ouside that it is 2 piece! B)

I have a set of these for my Octy Combi - the reason the rear window is in 2 pieces is down to the design and the material. Apparently, if they made them in a single piece then over time the material will begin to sag and look very poor, as the material is stretched over the framework. By making in 2 pieces this avoids the problem.

I queried the very same when I bought mine - my OESunshades, which I think have renamed to Vanstyle. They are very good nonetheless - I'll be changing my car soon and may well be selling them.
