Question for the OEM Changer Owners

Featured Replies

If you've got a Fabia with an OEM changer under the passengers seat, do you get a quiet, low level ticking sound that sounds like it's mechanical but actually comes through the speakers?

I did read once someone fitted an E=OEM changer and it got a funny noise and swapping out the lead fixed it? But it all work fine apart from the low level ticking?

Did they ever change the pin out? Should I have a lead with it's own discrete earth as the one I bought doesn't have this?

Thanks for any help guys & Gals.... luckily it's low enough not to drive me crazy, you only hear it between tracks.

Taa.

Yes, that happens on mine.

It's only happens on one particular CD, so I blame that CD rather than the changer/HU/spreakers

Can't say I ever remember mine doing it, although it is boot mounted . . .

No, no ticking sound through the speakers on mine. Just the usual mechanical noises when the disc cartridge is loaded.

Hmmmmm... Cable diagram hunting time!

Thanks Guys.

No ticking from mine except when the cartridge is loading after just putting it in.

Thanks for that fabbdavrav, I'd got some diagrams but more info on your other thread.

No extra metal shielding on my Autoleads lead so pretty sure it's one of the Data connection just bleeding through a little.. like I said, It's really quiet and I can live with it (And I'm an Audio restoration engineer.. so back ground noise is something I'm quite sensitive too).. most folk would most likely say "What Noise Rob" lol!

It mentions a specific earthing point as well, but I can't see this being the issue.. It works, because it's earthed through the seat base to the Chassis.

Lesson to learn? Should have bought a better lead.... Effing hard enough to find this one at a decent price though.. (Cheaper now, naturally).

(And I'm an Audio restoration engineer..

Audio restoration engineer.....?????? What, high end stuff like valve amps, Linn, build your own cross over networks type of thing?? :o ...or is that a BIG title for just a "service engineer"???
