Octavia replacing window regulator cables

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Seen a couple of posts on here about replacing the whole window regulator (or just the plastic broken piece) but I need to replace the cables too.

I've stripped the regulator out of the door, and the cables have got chummed up around the electric motor splines, so need replacing (cause of which was the clip that goes on the window clamp breaking.

Was going to order the repair kits on ebay that are £20, they include the cables, pulley and new clip, but I was wondering what people have done to get the pulley off? It appears to be rivetted with four rivets with holes in them held in place with a black plastic cover from the other side. How have people done this? ( I assume skoda would rather you replace the whole regulator not the cables and pulleys hence the use of the rivets)

I was thinking of drilling out the rivets, and refitting with nuts and bolts, but was unsure about clearances. Anyone have any thoughts??

Best regards

I bought new regulator from TPS for £50+vat saves a bit of time rather than faff about swapping cables and pulleys.

Drivers door was the one i changed Part No S1U0837462B.

Granted it would save some faff, but at three times the price of the repair kit, I'm prepared for some faff! Just wanted to know if anyone else had done it.
