oil light flashing ?

Featured Replies

 Dads come round and his oil light is flashing on the Octavia AHF 1.9 TDi there is plenty of oil in there and he hasn't any manuals etc. cheers - Stuart

I would suspect a faulty oil level sensor which is fitted in the sump.....

What colour is the light? from memory orange means low oil level whilst red is oil pressure.

Is it red?

Flashing is pressure not level so not the sensor in the sump. The oil pressure switch is on the filter housing next to the oil feed pipe for the turbo.

I'd get the oil pressure checked before driving much further

Sounds like a nice easy fix. When my oil level sensor went it shorted out, melted the connector and a chunk of wiring and fused my "multifunction switch" fuse which knocked out various other things such as the cruise control and climate as well as making the car drive like poop :o

Looks like its an oil pump problem so lets see what he says in the end what caused it. :wonder:

Mine also flashed a few days ago, yellow. The oil level was a bit above minimum and the car was parked overnight on an incline so I guess that's why. I topped it up and since then no probs
