Maybe turbo/egr issue?

Featured Replies

hi there i was driving the other day and at quite high speed and my car just didnt want to accelerate any more there was no power? and it flagged up the eml (when out a few hours later) at work i put the code reader into it and it came up with the fault code p1557 but the car has not been running at its best latley. and seems to puff out the black stuff a fair bit more now its slower. the modifacations include

pd160 intake

panel filter

cat back miltek exhaust

intercooler mod in wheel arch

p torque remap

i have just bought a egr del ket for it (not yet fitted) but im hoping this might help to cure my problem.

what do you guys think thank you in advance

is it mis firing? i had a similar issue when i wud accelerate and it wud b hic cupping. It got real bad then the EML came on. The problem was a faulty wiring loom in the head. Cost me 120 quid to get fixed from a vag garage.

it does miss ever so slightly on idle you can feel the car rocking every so often, was yours like this? thank you

mine was fine on idle, just every now and again it wud hic cup whilst accelerating untill the point came when it was barely drivable lol

hmmm no mine just seems more sluggish than it was, truth it i was trying to annoy an astra vxr and it just cut power out at around 125/130 turned off and on and it was fine but like i say flagged the fault, but it was running smoggy before that.

£50.42 inc vat :) i may as well

I would chuck a load of Red X Diesel in and hope for the best! Sounds like the start of a blocked injector to me - happened to me about 6 months ago. Unfortunately I had to replace the injector in the end but I managed to get an exact match from a breakers and it worked a treat. I paid about £90 for the injector plus £150 fitting at my local VAG specialist. BTW a new injector from the Stealers is £850.00.... now take a breath!

EDIT - The garage thought at first it was a faulty wiring loom so hopefully this is whats up with yours!

Good luck

Thanx alot Geordie I will try some tonight do you think I should hold back and not fit my egr delete kit or clean my intake out? I hope I don't need an injector :(

Hi,

I dont think the EGR delete kit will make any difference other than you having the peace of mind that your intake system is nice and clean especially if you're going to remove the manifold as well and give that a good scrubbing with some Carb Cleaner. The amount of black stiff in there took me by surprise! Maybe you should hold off installing the EGR delete kit purely because it will trigger the EML on your dash and you could probably do with noticing it flash on if you're driving around?

Did the RedX make any difference?

yea the red x did seem to make a diffrence and i put half a tank of v power in and also the full bottle of deisel treatment stuff it seems to run fine now but still a slight miss on idle, i think it might be a good idea on monday to clean my intake out i dont like the thought of the sludge :(
